Sorry about that. I think right now we're good with the moderation team, especially with Lythrynyx recently being added. We may be looking for additional moderators in the future though.

Looks like the rules are already there. Just like what we talked about. Just because you choose to believe you aren't provoking people doesn't mean we should write more rules.

You know why you were approached, it wasn't just a single admin/moderator's decision to do so.

I think that admins should warn or ban ONLY if somebody breaks a rule of the guidelines.
The guidelines are meant to prevent all of the bad things from happening (or allow them to be dealt with), so if you guys warn or ban someone for something out of the guidelines, then either you shouldn't have done that OR you should update the guidelines.

@Spengbab: The search feature is mentioned at the very beginning of the thread. Creating another sticky wouldn't guarantee anything, seeing as if they didn't read the guidelines, they probably won't read that either.

And I'm assuming you're talking about the CustomCipher on my site? I haven't turned it into a client, but I could try when I get the chance. I've been rather busy lately.

@Kaede-chan: It wouldn't be hard (in theory) to change how search queries are sent and processed.

We hope we can phase in different ones over time, so watch this space.

Regardless of if we're using bbpress, it shouldn't be that big of a deal to replace the search button with a link to google that searches for things specifically on this site.

Forum software likes 'tags', and as we all know, tags are rarely used for the appropriate purpose.. as izzy said, we're pushing to get some plug-ins for this place which should improve both user experience and moderation/admin control.

many of the default (current) search function's results aren't relevant to the search terms so i can't really blame people for duplicating topics. when i'm looking for something specific, such as a map, i often find it easier to go through the appropriate category page by page using my browser's 'Find' text feature. there's a much better Google-powered search plugin that i'm hoping we will get soon.

What we really need is for the official search to be powered by google. It isn't a very good search engine, how it is now. I know StackOverflow wrote one, but it's not really the official search, and therefore, isn't used by anybody. I can't even remember where he posted it.

@Kaede-chan, that could easily be abused. We are already looking into a reporting system among other things to help improve the usability of the forums. Thanks for the idea though.
