Members of the community, I'm sorry to report that certain sandbox-type games have been declared dangerous and unsafe to play. Here are a few warnings for your safety:

Dwarf Fortress: While most individuals were found to quit the game early due to its complex nature, some individuals were able to continue playing for extended periods of time. Symptoms of prolonged use include confusion, distress, and a tendency to call unfortunate things "Fun."

Ace of Spades: This game has been found to be midly addictive, although it's proven so dangerous that it can kill off affected individuals before the addiction can develop fully. This is mostly due to excessive amounts of griefing, trolling, and hacking, although hacking has lately been replaced with an less serious trend of serverside hit verification. Experts predict that improved admin controls could cause this game to become pandemic.

Minecraft: This game was found particularly addictive to nearly all individuals. Exposure for as little as an hour caused most individuals to become addicted. Addictions were found to develop rapidly and cause such symptoms as a strong desire to display buildings, particuarly in the form of "Let's Play" videos and similar media. Fortunately, the cost of a Minecraft addiction has caused some individuals to resist exposure.

(I love off-topic now. I also love WAY too many sandbox or sandbox-ish games. For those of you wondering, this random post was the result of me developing a sudden and serious Dwarf Fortress addiction).

Using the seed "ImpactCrater," I got this world. It's great for AoS gameplay, and when used in actual minecraft, has MASSIVE ore veins. Screenshot is included in the zip.

Consists mostly of huge arches to the north, a valley to the east, a group of islands to the south, and a forest to the west.
SECRET FOR PEOPLE READING THIS: The brown patch is my house, there is a cave entrace behind it, just dig 1 block into the rock wall.

Here's my fairly average texture pack :) it's quite nice, the screenshots don't make it look fantastic though... I've done most blocks and one or two items, however, I am still working on it... slowly.

i am having trouble connecting to servers. like if i click on a server, a error thing will pop up. is this happening with anyone else? or is it just my computer? cause i know my computer has some virises on it. i just was just asking advice, what should i do? forget the game completly? move on to minecraft? or keep trying the servers? my head is full of questions (sorry). please answer these few. thanks :)

I suggest a sandbox mode where damage and weapons are removed, and you could join a certain amount of teams...

Blue: You can place/remove all other blue players' blocks.
Green: You can place/remove all other green players' blocks.
Independent: Only you can place and remove your own blocks.

Not saying an infinite block count.

I found a post under the General Gameplay section called "Notch broked it." Recognizing Notch's name, I clicked on the post and found out that Notch linked the download of the game in his Twitter. My opinion is that this has some pros and some cons. I wanna talk about the problem, but first I'll mention a good aspect to keep spirits up. This will increase the AoS population by thousands, boosting this game in fame and also more people will donate making this an awesomer game than it is already (really hard to beat :D).

Now the problem. In the post "Notch broked it", commenters said minecrafters will interpret it and either join the game's servers and build like it's candyland, or rip on the game calling it a rip-off. Neither of those concern me much, although I know that some minecrafters will do this and have already done that. My concern is that many minecrafters who want to build freely will notice three things:
1. Green spawn/territory is in a relatively flatland, which is nice and easy to build on.
2. Green team promotes building much more than blue team. They are in lowlands and need as much cover as possible from the sniping blues on top of mountains.
3. Green team usually has better defenses and can better defend the builds minecrafters make than the blue team, minimizing chances of it being tore down by a sneaky ninja on the other team.
You've probably inferred by now that I implied most minecrafters will probably prefer the green team and will overpopulate the green team. Many starters at this game will be too scared to join blue team since it will have much less players, and the beginners will join green too, overpowering the green team even more.

The bottom line is that the preference for green team will sky rocket and the teams will unbalanced, making unfair games on most servers. On a vote taken on the unofficial Ace of Spades Blog in early April, 284 people preferred blue team, 297 people preferred green team, and 183 people couldn't decide. There was also a system that allowed you to only vote once to make the poll accurate. This was pretty balanced and made it about a fair match. Now in late April, when the world of Minecraft learned about this game from Notch, the polls could take a drastic turn.

It's damn annoying when you're trying to rally the men for attack and everyone's just sitting in their forts, building useless 'defences'. I mean, don't they realise that you can't win a capture-the-flag by sitting in your base? You need to go and get the enemy's flag!

Not that I do not find building useful but 12 players out of 16 are just sitting in their forts, doing nothing? Yeah, good luck on winning that round.
