Now that the shotgun is here, animations could never be more fitting.
Why not seperate the components of a gun into individual .kv6 files and animate them with .ani files?
Here's my concept:

Any .kv6 starting with that weapon's name is considered a part of it, and the one with that exact name is the "centerpiece" of it. Any .kv6 starting with an underscore is ignored in third person. ie:
semi.kv6 (the above-mentioned center piece)
the below are optional for modders, but are named appropriately for easy reference:
semimag.kv6
semibolt.kv6
_semihands.kv6 (this is ignored in third person and will not show up)

semi.ani (semi.kv6's animation file; all of the parts below aside from parts with @ in their name are attached to this and thus affected by its movement)
semimag.ani
semibolt.ani
@semihands.ani (these three are supplied for the three optional .kv6 files, but there can be as many .kv6 and matching .ani files as you like)
semi3p.ani (this is the optional ani file for third person; this overwrites the default semi.ani in third person and thus looks different; this can be done with any and all .kv6 files)

An explanation of how the format of .ani files could be is: With .ini files as a reference ([name] to define an element, then specifications below), we define the animation's name and provide the data as 3D positions and rotations with delays (milliseconds? steps? frames?) at the end, along with a boolean for whether or not it tweens from the previous position.
Example:

To add to this idea, these .ani files should normally be supplied for each .kv6 file (that is, every single one including sub-models like "semimag"), although if there are none, there should be default backups.

Answered questions

How will modders be able to continue modding if the animation is in .ani files?

This does not impact older models at all whatsoever. They will be treated as a single model (because they are) and will be animated with a fallback .ani file for the according weapon.

In other words, they will look the exact same and will not require porting.

OMG! OMG! OMG!
Your basicaly saying stop motion kv6 right?!

Nope. The only reason why multiple models would be needed for this idea is for different parts, each with their own animation file containing keyframe data, for the end-product model. In other words, one model for each piece of the gun, all with their own designated keyframe data files. Animated 3D sprite tables would be much harder to develop.

Mad props to Gergery for an awesome starting point and examples for these guns.

I've taken a liking to modding AOS and I know how to mod pretty much anything in the game. I'll make you gun skins, player skins, camos, sights, sound files, tracers, or do alterations like putting arms or scopes on your guns. I'll post some of my previous works and i am also taking requests for making pretty much anything you can think of!
EDIT: I don't have as much time anymore to do requests so i'll pretty much only do one that i think are interesting

Seeing as we (almost) all love AoS model and sound mods, I thought I'd show a bit of what I myself am working on. A Team Fortress 2 Sniper mod, starring your (possibly) beloved class of the game, the Sniper! Famed for sitting in the back, watching people's heads wander by on broad shoulders, ready to blast it across the Outback and send it plummeting into the depths of the Great Barrier Reef.

Okay, so I'm giving him a bit too much credit. They aren't useful massed up against different classes. In fact, they die. Badly. Dying badly is not good, it is bad.

But they fare well against OTHER Snipers! At least I think so.

But anyways, enough of that rambling, you want to SEE some of this already, so I'll get this over with, picture links with descriptions after them.

Here is the rifle itself. Crazy wire, scope cover and all that other strange stuff Sniper uses tactically in rare occasions, so it MIGHT not be all that bad to look at.

Here is a Sniper I found standing completely still on top of a rock, maybe there's some strange tactic to it, I don't know. I died before he did. You'll note he has no rim on his hat, but that's because the game won't allow heads any bigger than they are now, I guess those Sniper brains are at maximum capacity with tactical evasion and pinpoint accurate skills.

Here are some shots of the intel, both side colors. Modeled after the TF2 intel as well, and obviously stuffed so full of information, papers are just trying to crawl out of the case itself for a breath of fresh air. I don't know why the Snipers want each other's intel if their heads are full as mentioned before, but don't question them, they are leagues smarter than us.

Here is a brave lad I caught rushing the opponent's intel back to green CP. He kept shouting "Cover me!" and "Do something!" as well as giving me dirty looks on the trip back, but I have no clue what those mean, I guess it is more combat oriented language too advanced to comprehend, and I think he might've been camera shy.

At least I could keep a decent hat model for the team select! This might change too, the hat is, well... Flat looking.

As for the sounds, well... I have no examples to share yet, but they include new hit noises (a sniper grunt), fall noises (an 'oopf'), new weapon noises (to match their TF2 counterparts), swing noises, grenade blast noises (I don't know when Sniper started using these, but again, no questions asked.), a TF2 intro, death noises, and a few more things I need to add.

When will this become available for people interested? I don't know. When I am happy with what I have made and fixed things the best they can be fixed. Just enjoy some pictures for now~

Hey guys, so Zeke and I have planned this EPIC series of COD: Black Ops packs, and we've already gotten to work on making the weapons. ;) But you see, the thing is that we're not going to just do like one or two weaopns and then say that we're good. Nonono, we're going to try and get the COOLEST, AWESOMEST, SEXIEST weapons to you packed into a cute little box with a bow tie on it! >:D Here is the current list of things planned to make an appearance in this series of packs...

Sadly, we don't know how we're going to go about that. :( I would love it, of course, because I have lots of work to get to. -w- Man I would KILL to have a bunch of little monkey slaves to make this mod pack for me. Sadly, I don't know if that's what we're going to end up doing. Currently it doesn't seem like that actually, so I'm sorry if I got your hopes up. :(

I can also create new weapon skins, or camouflage and alterations for old ones, as long as you post a link to it. :D

There are a LOT guns, sights and skins scattered around in the forums and I recently got the idea of a database-website for mods, where you can search for a weapon and upload your stuff. If you don't find the weapon you want or dont like it the existing ones you could still request one here in the forums.
I dont know if its really difficult to do something like this or if something like this already exists (didnt find anything with the search function and the one I found with google was dead.

Hello! I have just released mt own mod pack! It features the semi as a SR-25, the SMG as a Heckler and Koch MP7 and the shotgun as the SMith and Wesson M3000!!

It also has a kind of tatical desert camouflage for the player, grenades and Command posts!
