Hopefully this map will deliver what my previous map, "Hill of Caves", did not. Set on the middle of a shallow sea, this map is dominated by a towering hill riddled with numerous caverns. In addition, sea walls built on either side first used to control the tide now funnel in players to the spheres base, although clever players may chip away at the wall and use it as a valuable stepping stone or flanking position. Approximately a dozen preset towers are already set to help battle the enemy and provide a base upon which to build, although they may be torn down or expanded at will. This map largely focuses on controlling key areas of the map to stage attacks while protecting your exposed intel, but many flanking routs and the general map design can make this difficult! Enjoy!

Thank you for the praise Lythrynyx! In practice, I found my map has a major flaw ; I only utilized 1/10th of the map! Uploading a new and vastly improved version, "Sphere Wars". If you're interested, check it out!

This was a map I made fairly quickly in voxed, but I think it would have great gameplay value! The aesthetics arent't the best, but they're decent, and that picture I took from a bad angle; the caves aren't just those big tunnels, they're scattered throughout the hill in 4x4 shafts. If someone could host this for me (my router is a beast to work with and refuses to be port forwarded), major props to them! As for the description...

" In the middle of a barren, muddy sea, a giant green hill looms, towering above the surrounding waves. This hill is filled with tremendous caverns, which are so numerous they have never been fully mapped out. However, two teams have gathered here, building small forts while gathering in the water, leaving their intelligence and supplies floating in the calm seas as they prepare for a push to capture the vital information the enemy posses. This map focuses largely on controlling the center hill while being able to protect your exposed spawn points and intel"

Select a point at each corner of the map. Then hit C. That should create a ceiling layer.

There's also a handy little command-line bitmap converter here: http://ace-spades.com/forums/topic.php?id=1023#post-10966

It will take a bitmap and create a flat map out of the bitmap at the height you specify. There's also a heightmap program in there as well.

Thanks man, numbered cursors ay?

I may not use your sand map but I might take your idea of laying a texture over the map, the only command I can see that looks relevant though is P project texture, which does some other crazy thing

numbered cursors are good for that because you can move them around and repeat actions, read voxedhlp.txt

if you're lazy here's a flat 512x1 sand-like texture map you can start with:

Is there any way to use other shapes as brushes? For instance if I have an empty map and want to cover a large area 1 voxel up from the water level, the only way I can think of to do this at the moment is to spend 20 years using the spray tool. Is it possible to create a large 1 voxel high square as a brush to use?
