<p>So yup, it's official! I'm going to make a new clan, and a bunch of people are already willing to join! d(^W^)b Sadly, Zeke is sticking to another clan... :,( Regardless, we'll still be buddies and I have a good feeling that I'll be able to lead this one pretty well. ;) In case you don't remember, here's the list of things we've got about it, with a bit of editing:</p>
<p>CURRENT IDEAS FOR A NAME: Architects of Awesome (AoA), All Stars Only (ASO [as-oh]), Modders of Aces (MoA[moh-ah]), 37 To The Maximum (37MAX), Undead Survivors of Warfare (USoW [yoo-sow]), Veterans of Warfare (VoW [voh]), X-tinction (Extinction, you know?)(X), Where Da Chicken At??? (WDCA), Damage per Second (DpS), Brothers In Arms (BIA [bai-uh]), etc.<br />
CURRENT BASIS OF IDEALS AND MOTTOS FOR CLAN: Building is best; a good defense is a better offense; Ace of Spades + Chipotle + fine young women in yoga pants = Paradise; Modders forever; pioneering the way to the coolest game on Earth; for everyone who's chill- homey's and lonelies, the ladies and the mateys, and anyone else who's got the coolness in them!; best at everything; back from the dead; n00bs will be punished severely; we HURT; fun and enjoyment first, winning comes next; united we stand, together they fall; etc.<br />

NOTE: by applying in ADVANCE to a position and also contributing to the creation of the clan, you will automatically be given that position! (b^^)b But when I say "contribute", I mean REALLY contribute!<br />
WHAT OUR CLAN WILL DO: Clan wars, modding packs, HOPEFULLY host servers if we can get someone to, being "prophets" of building good structures and other helpful hints, basically just being the coolio/friendly helpers of AoS, TO SHOOT UP YOUR @$$, etc.</p>
<p>Anyways, now that we have MOST of the stuff we need, we just need more contribution and ALSO we need people to "vote" for a name for the clan, because nobody is really in agreement. :P By that, I mean ANYONE can vote- even if you're not joining the clan. ;) We just need a decision, so yeah. :P</p>
<p>But anyways, it IS official, and this clan WILL rock if we can get those contributions necessary!!! d(^W^)b So thank you EVERYONE for supporting the idea, and I hope that we can really get this clan up and running so we can get to work! ;D

<description><p>I think that, while the grenades in the game are great, it would be kind of cool to have some options. Some incindiary grenades would be good for tacticaly seperating enemies or from flushing a group of enemies out of a bunker. The smoke grenades would be good for moving the line forwards by obstructing your enemies veiw of you and your team, as well as being able to start a sneak attack on the enemy base by filling your entrance point with smoke, allowing you to enter quickly without being shot.<br />

<description><p>Hopefully I'll get time to think about it but for now these are ideas I just WANT OUT OF MY FREAKIN' HEAD. So please understand me and be respectable because I haven't thought them out much yet.</p>
<p>Two things I want in the future:</p>
<p>1. The Reticule to be 10-20 pixels lower for more competitiveness. I'll need to think of more reasons to see how it would work. It's used often in Halo.</p>
<p>2. The target.png to change red whenever it's over and enemy that is within range. This could help heighten the chance of somebody hitting at close range because you think you can hit them more likely. (Mind over matter)

<description><p>I was just chatting with the guys on my server tonight, but when Minecraftnerd left my server, my irc bot said byeeee, all on it's own. Right after that it said, "I am God". At first I just said that it was weird, and told the guys on my server that my bot had just talked, when it piped up, saying stfu b****!!! I then said something else, and it said that it wasn't a dog :/. After a while, it added it's own comments, even going so far as to get all confused when somebody left the server. it then called our my name, asking if I was there, and even asked how I felt! after a while it mysteriiously went silent, and I will post a new comment if I see it again.<br />
It is possible that mat^2 somehow slipped this in, but when I told him about it he seemed to be surprised by it. It is also possible that it was like an experimental thing on quakenet, which is more likely, and that might explain its...unusual vocabulary.</p>
<p>I just want to make two things clear: I am new to irc, and I had just set it us on my server when this happened. The other thing is that i swear to god that Im not making this up, and that I didn't fake it or do it intentionally.</p>
<p>Does anyone here have any idea what caused this?

<description><p>I actually started playing AoS today; sorta.</p>
<p>Basically, the few servers I am able to join, I get about 5 fps. Here are my specs...</p>
<p>AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core Processor (2.20GHz)<br />
8 GB RAM<br />
OS: Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit<br />
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT</p>
<p>I don't know the specs of my netbook, but it has 1.66 GHz, and runs the game 60FPS+</p>
<p>So my specs aren't the greatest, but I should be able to run a game that has countable pixels...</p>
<p>Solutions? Same problem? Please reply ^_^

<description><p>I will first start off that THE SUB MACHINE GUN SHOULDN'T HAVE RECOIL!<br />
2: Snipers. Sometimes I just cant get that aim on that guy, so I get killed. It should zoom in but not change the fog.<br />
3. Secondary. Pistol.<br />
4. Melee. Pickaxe/Bowie Knife.<br />
5: Stealing from other CP. Ammo/blocks, not health.<br />
6: Slow Health Regenaration. 'Nuff said.<br />
7: Water=Less fall damage/none. 'Nuff said<br />
8: Classes. (Scout: Faster, less health, shotgun, 25 blocks, only pickaxe. Sniper: Snipe Rifle, 25 blocks, normal speed, both deleting items, Normal Health. Solider: Rifle, 50 blocks, Spade, normal speed. Almost like TF2, but with something like the Builder: 75 Blocks, Both tools, Rifle or Pistol..? Normal speed, Normal health.</p>

Mod manager - shows you in-slab6 screenshot, and can just double click to apply<br />
Minimap coords - simple enough, says C6 or B2 in your minimap.<br />
Hit Indicator - helps with long range SMG'ing and the like, some sort of hit marker would be nice. Also editable?<br />
Map sizes and player limits - increase?<br />
Doubling the render size - kv6 files dimensions are doubled, allowing more details and smoother weapong/skin models.<br />
Sprinting with shift/tab/B, etc... - short speed boost of walking speed, maybe a bit louder to help enemy find you? Or stay normal to avoid under-ground spawn camping<br />
Screen resolution back to 1024? The game seemed smoother when it was at a higher resolution.<br />
2 Layer scopes - allows us to make 2 scopes per gun, one down sights and one with the barrel lifted, or smooth out the current "zoom" effect we have</p>

<description><p>I realize that many lists have been made up to warn Server Admins, etc about questionable players. This will just be ones that I've witnessed. </p>
<p>I can't vouche for anyone adding to it, but if you do I would suggest following my guideline below.</p>
<p>Known Name/Alias: Jihad_Nasheed, Jihad, Jihad_Nadasheen<br />
Reason: Griefing legitimate defenses, blocking in tents/players, taking intel and hiding away with it, hacking.<br />
Servers frequented: Aloha uscentral hallway, aloha uswest island, aloha uswest pinpoint, aloha uscentral gen</p>
<p>Verified: I witnessed this guy on Aloha servers before doing this kind of asinine behaviour - to be expected of those - but i noticed in a game I played at 0900 (Central Time US&#38;Canada) July 29/2011 in addition to low level griefing he was employing some weird hacks. He would be able to fire his gun and create a block in the air - not a server feature - and also be able to teleport from the bottom of cliffs to the top or across the map - in a server with no lag. Hopefully he just sticks to Aloha servers.</p>
<p>Just a heads up to any Admins who notice this guy join their server. BAN ASAP. Sorry I don't have IP.

<description><p>Though i have seen the idea of the shotgun suggested before, i believe that it wasn't as balanced as it could be, and therefore wouldn't be as good as the current smg or rifle. I think the specs should look more like this:</p>

<p>Use: should be for a player who could put down a spread of bullets if he is used at range, or quickly clear out a trench system at close range. The shotgun should also break blocks faster than the rifle or smg, making firing at long range not very lethal, but destructive towards enemy positions and buildings.

Engineer: Shovel, Pickaxe,Block,SMG,RPG<br />

Assault:Pickaxe,Block,M4,Grenade,Flash Grenade<br />
Standard assault-rushing class.<br />

Heavy, eats his sandvich and fires M249.<br />
Builder:Shovel,Pickaxe,Block,<br />
Only needs 1/2 of the hits from the pickaxe and has infinite blocks.<br />
Medic:Pickaxe,Block,SMG,Syringe,Medic Grenade<br />
Syringe is simple healing tool,medic grenade heals ALL in its vicinity.</p>
<p>I also propose, all classes get a knife and a pistol. This would add a little more strategy to the game rather than rushing, sniping and camping.

<description><p>As *OFFICIAL* is written in caps, this thread must maintain a high standard of serious face-ness and general good suggestions.  Here is a serious face for those of you who don't know what one looks like &#62;:&#124;. Please bear in mind I use the title "OFFICIAL" very loosely, as there still isn't a dedicated suggestions sub-forum.<br />

Now due to the lack of catergorised sub-forums, I've taken it upon my boring self to (hopefully) create a thread where we can post our suggestions and have them read by others. As the thread will, in theory be more condensed down into purely suggestions and not rage-fests and people crying, there is a greater chance they will get looked at by the powers that be.<br />

As we all know Ace of Spades is a fairly new game to hit our screens, and like many other new games, requires alot of support, especially for AOS<br />
(due to I presume its small budget). So please feel free to post any suggestions you may have concerning AoS but there are several rules which I would appreciate you to follow;<br />

+ Keep all suggestions relevant and important.<br />
.<br />
.<br />
+ If somebody has already come up with your idea, think harder. Can it be improved?<br />
.<br />
.<br />
+ If you see a bad idea, please say why and offer alternatives but do not provoke a rage-fest, you can never tell how many testosterone fueled 13 year olds are hiding behind the keyboard waiting to button bash until their mother calls them for dinner.<br />
.<br />
.<br />
+ Use common sense. Don't post suggestions for "planez wif laz0r gunz lol0o0ol0l" as this is probably outwith what the developers probably see as essential/beneficial at such an early stage in the game.<br />
.<br />
.<br />
Here are a few improvements I came up with before and/or during writing this thread;<br />
.<br />

#1 Balance Out the Bias. When a team begins to fail it's not uncommon for people to switch to the winning side at the touch of a button. This should be limited to a switch say every 5 minutes UNLESS greater influence is put on the teams to win, such as a time-limit, after which the game will RESTART and everything will return to a blank battlefield. This will in general, reduce rage so people will be less enticed to cure their boredom of loosing by grieving.<br />

#2 Fix the way the game is displayed.There have been a countless number of times where I will be listening to a song on Youtube or have an overwhelming urge to go on Wikipedia and read a random article, when suddenly all attempts at this are thwarted by the fact that as soon as you press esc, it's gone. Forever. Until you start up another connection to a server. I am aware that you can alt-tab out of the game, but for some users this may be inconvenient so the game IMO should be displayed in a client window.<br />

#3 Settle the Scores. So there I am in the middle of the battlefield trapped behind a shoddily built wall of bright pink blocks for comical effect and I decide to check my score, well according to my score I usually have in the region of 15 deaths and around 100-200 kills, despite only being on the server for a few minutes. #4 HammerHead Accuracy. In all fairness, the game is way too accurate, I miss very few shots, regardless of the distance which I pick off my unsuspecting pray. IMO the accuracy should be worsened slightly, to allow for more marginal errors within the game to make it more enjoyable when in combat with the enemy. This will make players ask themselves "What if I miss?" and not "How easy is this?".<br />

#5 The Fish. A Fish is the name I give to a player whom spends the majority of their time, camping far out at sea picking off players and usually spawn killing. To combat this, when in the water there should be a 'bobbing' effect implicated, this will ensure that if you would like to be a fish, you will have to shoot like a fish too... presumably quite shit. This will stop people detracting from the games wonderful fort-building nature and get them more involved.<br />

#6 Leaderboards. Ah yes we all love a bit of stiff competition don't we? Well at the end of each round (assuming a time-limit / map restart has been implicated) scoreboards should be displayed. The leaderboards should show the usual kills/deaths and K/D Ratio, along with maybe some interesting facts such as "amount of enemy blocks destroyed" and "amount of blocks placed" and maybe a line of scrolling text along the bottom of a random fact such as "Player X threw the most grenades" etc etc. This could be implicated to a global level, to generate a more team-driven environment towards every round, this may influence more clans to be formed which would further expand the fanbase. There should also be a Win/Loss ratio, (disconnection counts as a Loss). This will enable players to show off their stats on their profile, and to be able to establish who is a genuine player, and who is just plain bad.<br />

#7 F*ck Da Police!. No don't, infact don't bother messing with authority, as generally they are good. This suggestion has probably been made more times than the word "noob" has been displayed on any of the servers. Permissions. I understand that many of the people hosting the server will probably have an extremely basic understanding of the language used to write the game so that is probably the reason why there is a lack of authority.  Ace of Spades needs a dedicated server unit to run several servers on different maps 24/7. With this players will know these servers will be faster, secure, and presumably griever free as admins/moderators may be assigned...*cough* me *cough*. These servers could possibly require a premium account? *hint* $$$ *hint*.<br />

#8 Grenade Limit. You know that little green tent? Yeah the one with that one guy in it who sits there throwing grenades about? Well that can be stopped. Limit grenades to 2 per player. Now before you say "I hardly ever use more than 2 nades a round" please read the above suggestions. With the introduction of a time limit/more pressure on teams to get the intel, this will seem more intelligent.<br />

#9 Donate! As irrelevant as this is to your "epic game time" many of us probably forget that the developers are using their own time, and probably their own money to allow us to blast people in the face. Just a few donations here and there of say $10/£5 each will help indefinitely no matter how small.<br />

<description><p>There's tons of threads about all the KEWL NEW THINGS that should TOTES BE ADDED. This is different. I'm going to tell you what I don't want added to the game. To me, the game has an incredible amount of theme and atmosphere. I feel many of the suggestions on how to "improve" the game will just turn it into "FPS #9821373".</p>
<p>Don't add a billion guns. Please don't add things like rocket launchers or missles or mortars or shotguns or sniper rifles or flamethrowers. One of the best parts about this game is how the rifle puts all characters on the same footing, while also making long-range combat encouraged, something unique outside snipers in most FPSs. It gives it a feeling of war rather than a deathmatch. Adding the trillions of explosives that people want would completely change the dinamic of the game. Machineguns might work, and might fit the theme of the game, but their implimentation should be carefully balanced, so people still want to use rifles.</p>
<p>Don't add classes. As above, one of the best things about the game is how anyone can do anything. You can dig tunnels or build forts, but then when the heat is on you can fight. People seem to just want this game to be Team Fortress: Building Edition. The only thing I'd think would be an acceptable thing to "customize" would be the ability to swap grenades for other things. Grenades are situational equipment so replacing them with something equally situational shouldn't hurt. For example, mines are often talked about (although those would probably just be placed in one-square halls rather than used for minefields), and I think some sort of demolition charges would be a neat alternative. They would be more powerful (to better destroy structures), but would require contact rather than throwing, making them trickier.</p>
<p>Don't change the graphics. My laptop is crap. It's garbage. I can barely place flash games. But this game? IT RUNS FLAWLESSLY. One of the huge advantages of this game is that it doesn't require a high-end comp to work. It could reach a huge audience who don't have gaming computers.</p>
<p>I'm not saying the game shouldn't change at all. Just keep in mind WHY it's fun, and just as important, why it's DIFFERENT than every other shooter. This is a unique game, and it should stay that way, not just adding every single thing every other shooter has done. The building element ALONE is huge, with fully destructable terrain that no other game can match, and player made structures that are to EXACT specs. It's really amazing.

<description><p>I was playing Ace Of Spades and I had to rendevous with someone because we were going to do an intel raid, now I went to someone... but it was someone else, I blame the map for this and to improve it I think it would be a good idea to display player names on the map. e.g:<br />
Names are in a list, show coordinates.<br />
Shows names under the white icons on the map.</p>
<p>Also it would be go if the chat log/log showed ALL kills, I get killed by a camper or sniper and then another team is going in that direction (towards the camper/sniper), I have no idea if he gets killed (meaning its still unsafe, or if he managed to kill the sniper (meaning it's safe).</p>
<p>These are just a few ideas, there not centred around crappy guns there about improving the navigation and map.

<p>1. serverconfig.ini<br />
This would make the game so much better for server administrators. Options like map, player count, capture count, and server name could go in here. Scripts could then start server.exe much more smoothly, or in combination with scripts, as well as making server.exe much simpler for the server administrator, providing a console only for kicking. It would also open more options for server administration in the future, such as, perhaps, "registered users only", or perhaps a blacklist of certain nicknames.</p>
<p>2. escape context menu<br />
Pressing escape to close the client is really handy. But it's also common for beginners to have difficulty locating config.ini, and there's some options that might be better handled in-game with an escape menu, like team, votekicking, or "main menu" as described below goes into effect...</p>
<p>3. client.exe<br />
client.exe is only really nice for the end user right now when he wants to connect to a server, and even then, the server is called as an argument. It'd be really nice if opening client.exe would provide a frontend for config.ini (change nickname, resolution, so on) under a settings option, a server list (maybe under play?), and then a "help" menu with instructions for playing.</p>
<p>4. server list<br />
If a clientside server list does go into effect, it'd be great if clicking on a server could show a short description (maybe number of players, team distribution, ping in relation to player...) could happen. If the serverconfig.ini happens, a description field could be used with this. And then, favoriting based on server name or IP would be a great completion. This could be as simple as a little star to the left of the name.</p>
<p>These would be things that would improve the quality of the game immensely without really affecting how it's played. I'm not an excellent writer, but the general idea of what I'm trying to convey should come across. I don't think it'd be incredibly hard to implement serverconfig.ini, at the least.</p>

FREEFORALL: everyone against eachother, all random spawns. only 24 players total can play.<br />
4TEAMS: 4 teams, yellow, green, blue, and red. Spawns are in corners. 40 players total can play.<br />
ZOMBIES: Players all spawn in middle, its CO-Op, zombies spawn and move toward the player breaking blocks in the way. the middle has the tent for ammo. and only<br />
10 players can play at a time, when more players are on. zombies are more numerous and more tough, maybe even faster.<br />
VSAI: playing against AI NPCs, they would not place, but they can break blocks.<br />
THey might be able to make small sqaure forts. if they have enough room. They would mainly charge you and shoot you if your 50 blocks away from them.can be played in any modes except for zombies. can have 16 AI bots and 16 players ata  time total. so there would start with 8 AI on your team and 8 AI on the enemy team.</p>
<p>OPTIONAL GAME MODES<br />
Campaign: i know this doesnt need a campgn. but you could make it coop so it can go really well. AI bots would help and hurt you, with a friend or 2, or 3 helping you.<br />
Wouldh ave a story line. 2 or 4 players could play dependign on waht you the creator would think.</p>

<description><p>As a server host, I expect server programs to be functional.</p>
<p>Here are some issues with the current server program that should be first priority in fixing, before adding more gameplay features.</p>
<p>1. There is no way to save and then resume a map as a server. The only way to do so is to save it from clientside by pressing F1, then uploading to the server. The server should constantly be keeping a save of its map, in case it crashes for whatever reason.</p>
<p>2. You cannot host more than one server from a computer. I might be missing something, but there appears to be no way to host more than one server from a dedicated server without getting an error. I have 8 IP addresses so if I could, I would.</p>
<p>3. If your server loses internet connection for more than a few seconds, then your AoS server will no longer show up on the server list. The only way to fix this is to manually restart the server, thereby also losing your saved map. The server program should attempt to reconnect to the master server. Every other server program does this.</p>
<p>These are just a few things that I think must be changed in order to make server hosting viable.

<p>It's a community moderated list of suggestions for Ace of Spades. Since it's creation, over 500 people have submitted over 250 suggestions and cast over 16,000 votes for these various suggestions. Despite this, threads keep popping up that contain the same suggestions over and over and over. However, it occurred to me that perhaps a lot of the newer members of the forums don't know about this suggestions system.</p>
<p>So here you go. Have a suggestion or idea? Pitch it to the community here and see what other people think about it. Then, you can browse the list of suggestions and vote for the ones you like, downvote the ones that suck, and help make the list more complete and organized so that Ben can know what the community wants to see in his game in the future.</p>
<p>Also, could we get a moderator to pin this somewhere on the forum? Having all the ideas and suggestions in one place keeps the forums over here a lot cleaner, and I imagine makes it easier for Ben to get gauge what the community as a whole wants.

<description><p>Love the game, but it seems that most of the damage done to structures is by griefers and not the other team which is a real shame.</p>
<p>What do people think about these suggestions to stop griefers from just destroying things?  What are your thoughts?  What would and wouldn't work?</p>
<p>a) Cubes cannot be removed until they are a certain age (e.g. 5 mins) by your own team (cube placer and opposite team could remove)</p>
<p>b) Have a placed:removed ratio - only allow people to remove other team member's cubes (would not affect map-cubes or other team's cubes) if they have also placed a certain number of cubes (e.g. only after placing 20 cubes can you remove other team member's cubes; once below the 20:1 ratio need to place again to get back)</p>
<p>c) Pickaxe/shovel fatigue - cannot continue to remove cubes constantly (e.g. &#62;50 in one go) and would require a wait period, allowing the team to rectify bridges etc about to collapse or rebuild walls.  Or just slow the rate of removal down to a crawl after a certain number</p>
<p>d) Monitor the number of friendly cubes destroyed by players (e.g. removing bridges in one go removes a whole lot of cubes).  If it goes over certain figure, kill the player and force a respawn with a "name and shame" from the server to all players.  Do it three times and the player is kicked and/or temp-banned</p>
<p>e) Smaller sized maps so griefing is more visible to entire team and kickvotes actually work

<description><p>-Make blur a setting you can toggle on/off</p>
<p>-Allow users to set mouse sensitivity</p>
<p>-Make the colors of each team stand out a bit more? Contrast-wise, I mean. Really, I have trouble telling enemies apart from similarly colored blocks in long range if they don't move at all. </p>
<p>-Allow people to see what direction they've been recently shot from, at least for a second. </p>
<p>-Win conditions</p>
<p>-Feature to lock silent and/or crawl by the press of a button</p>
<p>-Auto Climbing places</p>
<p>-Medkits. Either the player spawns with them, or you can take some from the tent. </p>
<p>-Make brick laying and removing blocks a little faster. Not everyone can stay for ages making really cool tunnels to try capturing the Intel with. </p>
<p>-Special Grenades: Maybe throwing them temporarily brightens up the area? In exchange, however, you lose your normal nades until you're killed.</p>
<p>-Allow admins to ban and kick, and allow votebanning (40-50% of the server pop?)</p>
<p>At first I QQ'd playing this game, but it's got extraordinary potential. Keep it up, dev bros.
