If your ping is too high the server kicks you while you download the map.

It might not be the ping but packet loss. It tends to increase with ping.

So for those of you who have been receiving the map transfer fail error, I figured out what causes it. The reason you receive this error is because your ping on that server is too high, For me anything above 250 will disconnect when I try to join the server. The best way to find out what your ping is and not the server to master server ping is to use one of the client browsers. I use AoS Lite browser and it helps me find the servers with the best ping for me.
