This is a terrible idea.

Crossing a river in this game is dangerous enough as it is. There's no need to increase that danger to ass-tarded levels

Maybe water movement should just be a lot slower, and make your gun wet so you can't shoot from water until it dries?

Crossing rivers when you don't have time to build a bridge is a staple of warfare.

This is an awful idea. If you want to encourage more use of bridges having more penalties for crossing the water instead. As it is now, tunneling and stumbling across "poisonous" water isn't all that bad, just die and tunnel another way.

I think this is a cool idea, I too feel that bridges lack strategic value, and that tunneling is a cheap tactic. If water went deep enough, tunneling across the map would be gone, but tunneling would still have value. As for constructing bridges, if a crouch stopped players from falling of ledges (like in minecraft) this would work. However, I think water should only be lethal if its deep, shallow rivers should be kept non lethal.

This will be a controversial suggestion, but I think it would add a lot to the game if you make water dangerous. Meaning instant death or damage over time. Hear me out, this would:

- prevent tunnelling through the entire map: there is always bound to be a river or lake in between to stop people making one long tunnel to beneath the enemy intel for a cheap win.

- put great importance on bridges, choke points, controlling and destroying them (especially while there are people walking across).

- watchtowers, etc. have an added line of defense when built on the banks of a river/lake, so the enemy cant just walk straight across the water and effortlessly tunnel through the building's walls to siege it.

- no need to crouch jump out of the water, you're already dead

Though you'd have to make it easier to build bridges, ie some way to build them out in front of you instead of leaning over the edge to place a block down.
