I cut it down to the part were the weapon fires, and try to drown it out with a sound that is similar but without background noise.

I'm still a bit new to audio editing, how do you "clean up" background noise from a video? Because there are several great youtube vids with gun noises in high quality, with the only problem being the weapons are shot outside and there is a LOT of background noise...

Actually for a few sounds i've heard from watching videos on youtube, i mix together sounds from various guns at various frequencies until i get the sound as close as possible. Or if there isn't very much ambiance in the youtube video i just convert that to a wav and cut it down to the gunshot.

I know, its near impossible to find pictures of the sights used by many weapons IRL, its like gun people dont think its that important >___> which is silly because I am a gun person and realize it is VERY important

and many of the gun sounds in my mods were taken from videogames XD so aside from the bowgun reloading sound I have for my bowgun mod, the sounds were already 85% finished XD
