Wrong, it does a lot more than just send echo requests; it also calculates the time taken for the response to come back, etc.

And it's not necessarily an "application". Even I could be called "ping" if I sent someone (something?) an echo request, then calculated times, etc. etc., no?

Yes, you are incorrect. Ping is actually just the application that sends the echo requests. Try to keep up.

I think jumping isn't bad. Does everyone else have fragile spacebars? It worked pretty fine for me and I see no good arguments against it.

Speed can be either transfer speed or movement speed. Since a game cannot change your transfer speed, I was obviously talking about movement.

I agree, it's much improved. I think it's good to see terrain also be appreciated when the player is slowed down.
