Then again, para-dropped supplies/personnel would suggest that those planes could just as easily do a bombing run on the enemy base. It would require some legitimate AA guns I think. However, I know Ben really wants to add aircraft to the game so AA guns may be added anyway, but I'd rather see a central supply tent where people buy/acquire weapons and tools. I say buy because I like to see progression in the game, going from sneaky tactics with light weapons, to maybe vehicles, better building tools, and more concentrated battlefields with guys focusing on taking out a machine-gun nest or something important that costed the enemy "money" (or rather score points). Then when the round resets so does the map and everyone's points.

On the subject of para-dropped personnel, I'd really like to see synchronized respawning where one plane drops off a load of players at the same time every 30 seconds to a minute in one general location. It sometimes gets annoying when you're in the enemy base killing guys that almost instantly come back, possibly right where they died or even right next to you without you knowing.

This means reinforcements. It could bring epic times to the game. And watching the boxes falling down with parachutes while everybody start to run for it... I think it would be cool. Moreover, if you can catch the bazooka, you can shoot down the enemy airplane before it drops the next supply. And so on, and so on...
It would be fun! :)

if you have to limit weapons per team, that simply means the weapons are unbalanced. like wise making weapons counter other weapons creates a metagame in AoS, which isnt a necessary bad thing.

And if the weapons are all counterable by each other, what if one team is stuck on the counter of the opposite team's weapon? Could make it very unfair.

I don't think anybody could make perfect counter-pairs for every weapon. For example, if the standard rifles defeat sniper rifles, how the MG's couldn't do the same. To defeat a sniper you have to sneak close to him, then burst him down while he can only shoot once per second. But if you can't reach MG's or standard rifles, because they are on enemy territory, you can kill the sniper with an other sniper rifle with the same tactics.
I don't think ranged warfare is a rock-paper-scissors game. It's the game of skills, and the game of style. If I prefer close combat, I won't use sniper rifle, I will build zig-zag trenches like in trench warfare, and wait for the enemy to come closer, if he want to take the intel from me. And if he brings MG against me, I still use my MG against him, because I belive my MG skills are better than his, and because I know, I can do nothing against an MG with my sniper rifle in the close combat of the trenches.
By the way, I know some FPS games, and they have well balanced weapon system without this "simple-as-rock system for simple-as-rock people" rock-paper-scissors system. I think AoS will have a good system too without this simplifying.

@Custos:
I'm afraid I would disagree with such a feature.
With the game in its current form, it could get quite frustrating for those actually wanting to play the game and those just wanting to be relax and build most of the time.
Also, it would likely make each team just almost as unvaried in weapon choice as it is now, since you would have to capture the points to gain the possibility to change weapons..
And if the weapons are all counterable by each other, what if one team is stuck on the counter of the opposite team's weapon? Could make it very unfair.

@Monsteri:
A domination gamemode would be the situation where a sort-of version of this might be createable. Would have to be very carefully thought through however.

I think there should be fixed respawn points for each weapon type (pistol, rifle, machine gun, grenade), so the players should battle for the control of these points.

I very much agree with your weapon balancing statement, my drafts for such weapons can be found here.

Barbed wire and satchels.. interesting thoughts, but I admit I do kinda like the grenade as it is now. I think this idea would have to be carefully thought over and be implemented at a later stage - for now I'd suggest we just add new balanced primary weapons.

I made a topic about this LONG ago

I still think the best way is to be spawned with default rifle/grenades and in order to switch you go to your tent and can scroll through the different weapons depending on which weapon you currently have equipped before selection

no powerful weapons, all need to be balanced

we dont need rewards or "killstreaks" for getting intel, period.

it should be like rock-paper-scissors in terms of gun balance, each weapon would be a counter to the next weapon while being very effective against users of the other weapons

that way it promotes the use of ALL weapons, and increase the playstyle diversity as different weapons would be used differently

such as snipers defeat MG's, MG's defeat standard rifles, and standard rifles defeat snipers, and so forth

I think we need barbed wire and satchels as secondary weapons that be used instead of grenades

barbed wire to impede movement and explosives to destroy bunkers and such

I would agree with weapon-changing at the tent, however I think that all normal weapons should be available on spawn, but with the ability to change what weapon is in your 'weapon inventory slot' at your CP.

I would disagree with weapon-limiting, the weapons should be naturally be balanced upon implemetation - enough to make it varied across the teams.

Extra tools from the CP could be available for the intel capper, as a good reward. Maybe also allow stocking up (1 time only) at an enemy CP, since that is harder in many ways.

This topic is not gonna deal with guns itself, but how they would be used/availiable.

So, Ben said that he's gonna make new weapons/gamemodes in next release so I decided to made this topic now.

a) Weapons are chooseable after spawn. the Rifle is always availiable, but other weapons have *limits to be used per team. If player presses TAB while being dead, following box appears when he has spawned: ( http://dardar.de/bilder/images/asd2.png please note that the draw is just an idea about how it could be, and I'd prefer numbers also) Once selected, player can't choose weapons again by TAB, but can go into CP and get a new weapon from there.

b) Weapons can be choosed only after spawn, and the same are with you until you die and select again. *Limits per team.

c) You spawn with default rifle, and can't get any new weapons until you go to tent, where the box which is shown in first option, comes after pressing specific button for it, and you can select weapons. No limits, but if there are stronger weapons then yes.

*The 'limits' would be that for an example if two of your team already has the weapon you want, you can't select it, but when another of them dies, you can.
The stronger weapon, the less slots to be taken.

Extra: Extra tools and weapons, like binocular could be availiable from the tent. I think that there should be more focus on CP. It shouldn't be just a place to get health and ammo, and return the intel.

Extra IDEA: When enemy stands in tent, no one from the opposite team can select another weapons than rifle.

Before you enjoy discussing, please read the whole post. It's not THAT bad.
