centralhill is nice but it would be better if the brightness was toned down and it wasn't so green (i.e. fairness)

Fuu, I found out that the server I was hosting actually wasn't connected to the master server at all, even though I was playing in it. I never left them up long enough to see if anybody would join anyways.

I'll have to forward some ports some other day, but I can't wait to play your maps in the meantime.

Update! 3 new maps! Be sure to look at the screenshots section. http://www.box.net/shared/kjgqdrefi3

Canyon - It's not actually one single canyon, there are simply many steep holes in a generally bumpy landscape. I was very surprised how good it looked, since it actually was created by accident.

cityofblocks2 - Generally a less clustered but symmetrical version of cityofblocks. Awesome colouring, I must say!

weirdblocks - Used the same effect as cityofblocks layed on a simple landscape and fucked up a bit.

Feel free to host them of course! I think I'll see if I can run a server myself for testing purposes.

Aksel: What Kanye said.

^Askeltorgerson, please finish grade school before joining internet forums..

@mizzu, very cool looking maps. I was hosting city of block for a few minutes so I could run around in it. I would say the only thing I don't like about it is how cluttered and big it is, it seems like the chances of even seeing an enemy on that map are pretty slim :p

I might host Smooth Hills later if you'd like to test it out, just post here.

Ok guys I generated some new stuff, You can view the heightmaps and the .vxl files here: http://www.box.net/shared/kjgqdrefi3

There is just one problem: THESE MAPS AREN'T COLOURED AT ALL. they are just black in the lowest parts (=water) and brighten up to something grey-ish with higher elevation. So, if any modders want to colour them, go on (I won't do it, there's no way I'm working with voxed). IMO they are kinda cool, have potential, and yeah. Derp

e: fixed some issues with valleys

Smooth Hills should play out well, hosting it on aloha uswest at the moment so we'll know for sure in a couple of hours.

Hey ho

You know Blender? That 3d modeling programm that happens to have a built in Landscape-with-heightmap-generating script? I used that thing (and gimp for coloring) to generate two custom maps. I put the heightmaps and the colormaps in bildramers bitmap converter, which you can find here: http://ace-spades.com/forums/topic.php?id=1023

I don't actually know how to test the maps, so I only have screens from voxed:
City of blocks: http://img.ie/764b8.png (for reference: a white block is made of 2x2x2 ingame blocks)

Smooth hills (except not): http://img.ie/44aa0.png

If anyone's interested I'll upload them somewhere so you can use them.
