I was already thinking of this because I constantly see people idle as well. However, I was thinking 510 seconds (8 in a half minutes). Of course admins/ServerBot wouldn't be affected by it. They have immunity.

I think this could be a good idea, so long as it doesnt apply to the server mod/admin/serverbot :)

Idle would be just that - idle :)

Not moving but "looking around" or shooting is not idle. Chat is not idle. Leaving the computer and walking away for hours at a time so you have a guaranteed slot IS idle :-)

But agree with mizzu, if you are on a server and its full and you are just there to chat then please leave and use IRC because other people might want to play and you're selfishly taking up a slot.

(don't know how to put in quote tags, sry)

"what if we are chatting ingame but dont want to play?"

I'd say you should leave then, because this isn't a chatroom, it's a game. Your ingame presence is terribly pointless if you arent playing and it's not like there aren't any other ways to chat over the internet.

"or if your like lex and are actually doing something, but it is easier to do if your NOT moving?"

I wouldn't describe this as idling. By "doing something" you mean shooting people, don't you?

Maybe have the idle work for all those BUT the host (just a simple IP match). Maybe chatting wouldn't be considered idle, but rather those who don't move or talk for a period of time.

I agree as well. Maybe 10 minutes idle would work. That way if someone gets up and walks away to do something real quick and comes back, they aren't kicked out.

Started to notice that some servers are full a lot of the time. When you finally manage to join, half the team are actually sitting idle, often with huge scores (some 800+ etc) as they just leave their client connected and come and go as they please, hogging a slot.

Could the server in the next release kick players who have been idle for more than a certain amount of time so that other players can join? As we know votekick doesn't work.

Bit disappointing to find a server with a map you like, see its 31/32, join and there are only actually 12 people playing :(
