Kaede, if you don't like these things you can play in servers that don't implement them. Wow, how simple is that! On the topic of the master server trolling, it can be done with any server implementation, including vanilla server.exe. The master server is to be blamed instead, for not sanitizing the names.

That's being a bit hasty, pyspades servers are great with their flexibility. I just don't want to see them being used to make stupid gameplay additions that turn this into generic FPS #23923823

As Beret mentioned, maps resetting upon a win would do nothing but good for the gameplay. Griefers won't be able to finish their griefing projects, it'll get rid of all the minecraft autists, and everybody will stick to building USEFUL quick buildings that help their team get the win.

Also, simulated or not, airstrikes are NOT for this game. I'm going to start boycotting pyspades servers if this gets out of control.

If you want to check it out, Minit and Sham's servers are running the experimental branch. It works by 'faking' grenades from clients, making it look like airstrikes. It works fairly well ;)

There's a rollback feature in hompy's experimental pyspades branch that will probably be merged with trunk once we get server/map scripts in, effectively allowing map reset on game win. Scripts will also allow you to do stuff like free-for-all and such - only the client/protocol is the limit.

Oh, yeah, there are airstrikes and other really cool stuff in the experimental branch, which I find really cool, at least :)

Autistry is a sort of give-take. I don't mind Autists, i just put a few lame blocks down and the deuces start building a damn fort around it. That is handy. Go out, cap the Intel come back for a little defense, go out again.

I don't like losing half a team to Autism.
I don't like when they build in a way that blocks my views.
I don't like when they build in a way that is taller than 5 blocks.
I don't like having to dig greens out from under massive Autis-forts because they are too damn deaf to bloody defend the Intel between block placements.

Know what, never mind. Feed them to the lions.

Bah.

I like the idea of voting for maps. I've seen it working good in similar games. Voting for map resets could be a nice idea too, like a quick fix for griefed servers.

About all the off-topic stuff... I like the free4all idea, but I don't think builders like "Maps resetting upon a game win". Am I wrong?

Ah true, I didn't think about the spawning. That'd be the only thing stopping from being workable RIGHT NOW though.

I was on a Normandy map last night where teamkilling at ANY TIME was possible, not just when someone destroyed a block.

Free for all would require random spawns dispersed throughout the map.
Free for all was possible at one stage by setting your "team" variable to something other than "0" or "1", but this ended at the introduction of team killing.

Maps resetting upon a game win. (Come on, tech wizards, I know you can do this)

Servers with mandatory naming (nobody with the default Deuce name allowed)

Free for all gamemode (only allow entry to one team, turn on teamkilling at all times, not just for hitting blocks, I know this is possible. Game ends when somebody gets to 100 points, that player is announced as winner, points reset.)

(I'm really just naming stuff off the top of my head that SHOULD be possible as of today with the flexibility pyspades servers have)
