Alot of the servers you see running all the time are on dedicated servers rather than on home computers.
This is a paid service, and the server can be quite far away from the person who owns the rights of use to it.
(Bear in mind that these servers are most likely being used for some other purpose(s) than just AoS server hosting though).

Other than dedicated servers, some have large internet plans with plenty of bandwidth and just leave their pc (or a home-built server) running 24/7.

Do what i do with my vent, tell my parents im downloading a REALLY important windows and anti-virus update that if i dont my pc wont be able to run anymore, turn off the monitor, go to sleep.

In server lists some servers are switched on all time. How do you make so? Is it a special program or you never switch off your computer?
