@Kaede-chan, I wasn't here when that situation happened, but it was changed by another administrator. Something like that technically is breaking the rules since it was obviously intentional harassment.

@DirtyBoner, it wasn't stupid. There's just a lot more to think about before taking an action against somebody, especially when regarding freedom of speech. I won't delete the topic since it kind of serves as a learning ground for other users, but I can close it if you wish.

Point is, we aren't going to ban a user because of the username unless it explicitly breaks one of the rules. Once you start pushing authority on one person, it becomes a mess when people start asking "well what about this guy" and so on. If we were to ban Adolf_Hitler for his username alone, do we stop there or do we ban other users whose names have been deemed as "offensive"? Like I said, some people might find your name offensive, so in order to keep things fair, it might lead to your own banning. This isn't my opinion, but purely a hypothetical situation that can become real when you start suppressing actions of certain individuals.

There's many users on these boards whose names might be offensive to others even in the slightest sense, that doesn't mean we're going to ban them on something that's completely subjective. There's a user with the name "Osama Bin Laden" and yet nobody has complained about them. (Not trying to single them out). As I said, it's subjective.
