I haven't experienced too many votekicks yet, but from what I've seen it's got the universal problem of all votekick devices: anything that makes it easier for anyone to votekick the trolls makes it easier for the trolls to votekick anyone.

I think I'd like the votekicks to be slightly harder, and have ADMINS MONITOR THEIR SERVERS BETTER (newbish allcaps, I know, but only a few people seem to get this. Gregery and C-C-Comrade FSM are good examples of good admins, the people running the Aloha servers are not). Ultimately, the only way that a server for any online game can stay free of trolls is if at least one trustworthy individual with the ability to kick and tempban people at will is present at all times.

This thread is dedicated to the new votekick system implemented in .54. Discuss it, give your opinion on it, add suggestions, etc.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think the new votekick system is seriously flawed. I know people have been wanting a more visual votekick system but this has some big issues. In the old system, people who wanted a player kicked had to look at the player list, find their number, and type it into a kick system. There was no knowing who was kicking or how many people had kicked unless people were saying to kick someone or if they had voted. Many servers used psyades or w.e which I'm not too familiar with but it had a modified kick command and was much like what we have now where it says who initiated a kick and how many/who voted or something. Now however, there is anonymous kick starting, and it informs the other players who was being kicked and how many people anonymously kicked. All the kickers have to do is a short kickstart command and a very short vote command. The problem with this is that there is no work needed to vote. This is NOT good because when someone starts a kick, everyone who has even a little bit of beef with the person getting kicked kicks them. The fact everyone voting is anonymous is flawed too because when someone is kicking a person for wrongful reasons, there is no way to find out who it is. There's also no wait time in between kicks or kick limits (at least that I've seen). 2 people arguing, first to get the kick command in gets the other kicked. If the kick doesn't go through, it continues, first person types it in gets the other kicked. Even with all the advantages, this system is faaaaaaarrr to easy to abuse and is just going to be another way for people discuss.

inb4 wall of txt, fucking read it and give me your opinion.
