Why don't you time-wasting (since autism is banned) Greens just make trenches?

Of course, leave it to a Green to make a useless structure that can get taken down easily.

Nothing us BLUES have to worry about, haha.

The more cover between the enemy and your treasure (intel in our case) the more chances you give them to seize the treasure. The more cover between you and the treasure the more chances you are given to defend the treasure.

Trees = Cover.
The space around intel should be defensibly flat, with little to nothing in between any teammate and the intel. After a bout 50 to 75 yards various cover should be used to secure the intel from a distance, with a devoted defenseman to act as an alarm and patrol intel. (I'm almost always in this role, self appointed.)

Solution to trees. Deforest/deconstruct a radius of 75 yards around the intel. Do not bury more than 3 blocks and do not elevate more than five blocks.

Do not use complete walls and do not for what ever reason build a massive fort around the thing. The more junk you can hide behind, the less enemies you can see coming.

God i read far too many books on combat strategy. My favorite is always going to be the Art of War though.

hell naw

in fact, i continue to fire away and blast the earth where the tree once stood, which symbolizes the conquest of humanity over nature.

...cover that gets sniped away as long as someone can wipe out a single block? yeah, that sounds effective.

i destroy the trees in both sides mostly to give better LoS. it tends to work pretty good, especially on normandy maps, where you can snipe blue scum from the buildings unimpeded.
