Here's an idea: Why not seperate the different components and then animate them in a file full of keyframe data?

ie:

semi.kv6
semimag.kv6
semibolt.kv6
semiani.ani

All of the kv6 files are optional aside from semi.kv6, so in the ani file you can include more or less kv6 files to be on the gun, resulting in really complex guns to simplistic single-file guns.

Also, this may open up the opportunity for custom scaling of the guns.

EDIT: And first-person hands that show up only in first-person, although optional. The files "lhand.kv6" and "rhand.kv6" would only be drawn in first-person. Either that, or anything with the prefix of an underscore would be invisible in third person, like "_left.kv6".

EDIT2: There also could be another (optional) ani file for the third person view, like "semiani3.ani"

While it certainly is possible to recruit a developer team from the community (á la Project Reality), that is a very rare occurrence, and most dev teams require money - more money than mere donations alone will bring.

So, unless you'd rather forego a very cool free game in place of a Minecraftian business model, which may not work with the relatively small core community this game has currently, then Mr. Aksoy may be on his own for quite some time.

There is no rush for updates really. There is no release date to adhere to, and there is no publisher trying to rush the game out of the door.

If he got a development team he'd probably have to start charging for the game. Maybe at a later date once griefers and trolls become a smaller problem (and the game's more stable and less buggy) it might make sense to do that, but I don't think AoS is developed enough for that yet.

I'd rather have more gameplay features at the moment.

Nope, we don't need that. Can't imagine the modding nightmare.

Better thing would be if your teammates/enemies could see you're reloading.

I'd rather Mr. Aksoy spent his time adding new game modes/items/weapons rather than animations. As cool as they would be, I think adding more 'meaty' (for want of a better word) content should take priority.

Hey this just crossed my mind, but what if we had reload animations instead of the gun just dissappearing and coming back up. I was thinking if we could make it LOOK like the gun's reloading that would be awesome instead of the gun just disappearing. XD
