If you guys have ever played bots before.

They are coded so they are not Aimbots.

It is all maths.

I thought you meant by single player, that you can build, not kill CPU. Now that's not bad but on many games bots can shoot from an unlimited range making it really hard. Imagine getting shot from across the map every time you spawn. LAME

Too much Scripting and plus they would probaly be either too sucky or too over powered

It would more than likely be built by an individual, Not Ben as a plugin or edit to the game.

Bots would be fairly complex to build, especially for one guy. The balance would be terrible because they might end up knowing where you are as long as your within 10 blocks of them.

Bots wouldn't be able to build intelligently, nor utilize fortification intelligently. They would be predictable roaming autoaim machines which aren't any fun to play against.

Half the fun of this game is the unpredictability.

I like the idea of coop against waves of bots, though.

Also, why do people insist on comparing this to Minecraft, or telling people to play Minecraft instead? This isn't Minecraft. We're not here to play Minecraft. Please stop talking about Minecraft.

Single player mode is not a half bad idea IMO. Honestly who cares if it would be like minecraft. It's single player. If you don't like it don't play it. It wouldn't affect multiplayer mode.

Play minecraft for single player (notch could add guns, but thats stupid for minecraft. You have Bows God dammit!)

It would work easily. Very easily. Just not worth it right now. When the game isn't even working properly.

bots take a long time to script even the most linear ones.
bots would need on-the-fly navmaps for dynamics.

If not single player, then how about coop against waves of bots? Build up a base and the bots start coming. Great fun in games like Mount and Blade with friends against an army of bots.

Anyway, the game is great the way it is.

EDIT - and Gears of War 2 horde mode is awesome with a buddy.

I love the idea of bots.

I don't know why so many people hate bots. All single player games are basically bots. Unreal tournament and Quake and now Call of Duty Black Ops have bots. Most importantly - Bots don't hack and start spamming grenades; they don't exist just to ruin everyones fun.

It isn't like bots are going to ruin multiplayer. Bots are in counter strike source. They are a great training tool and for a quick game when you don't want to dedicate hours to playing with your friends.

Well SP would be boring if it was just you.

Anyway, it was just an idea. Not a suggestion!

Too early in development for single player bots. Besides, though it might seem like a simple game on the surface, it can become MUCH more complex than any known FPS simply because of the fact that we're playing on not just random but also dynamic maps.

I just thought, why not have bots in a single player mode?
