You can also just be sure to delete the shortcut instead.

I edited the installer so that it doesn't install the shortcut. I did this so that I could play Ace of Spades at school. The desktop at school isn't allowed to be edited and this meant I couldn't install Ace of Spades because it had to install the shortcut otherwise it just breaks the operation and deems the installation as "unsuccessful". After editing the installer I was able to play Ace of Spades instead of playing awful educational games in a German lesson. Happy days!
