@izzy I can certainly put a commandline option in if you really want it, but I just figured it makes them easier to grief, and it feels more AoS-y if you have to dig them out for yourself.

I must have missed that the open-door vans were solid when i tested. Is it actually that way in the kv6 or did I screw up the loader still?

@1337101 I mainly meant what sort of license/restrictions you wanted to put on the kv6 files themselves. The comment about the map is that people can't work around restrictions on the kv6 files by extracting the vehicles back off the map into their own files -- the map is a "compilation" of the existing vehicles and those rules still apply.

There have been problems with parts of some of the models falling off when the models were hollow. It's possibly to fix this, but it makes the cars look a little uglier. I also didn't like how griefed the cars got when they were hollow.

is there a reason for that, nothings?

i liked it better when they were hollow. it was fun to knock out just a couple blocks to get inside them. even the open vans are not so open anymore, just a door sticking out the back, looks weird

Eh, it's all up to the hosts what's done with the vehicles. I designed some of them not to need modification to be used... the pickups have beds which require no building or breaking to access, and the two-high sides make them perfect for a marksman. The open vans with boxes make nice hiding places, and you only have to make a single jump noise to get into them. Alternatively, you could punch holes in the sides of the open vans to shoot from them.

The sedans and SUVs and things are solid, though... work around them, for the most part, and the SUVs have enough clearance that a player can crouch, sneak under them, and hide behind the tires. This form of cover will be nice for the SMG users, who have to crouch to be effective anyways. The sedans are really the least "useful" of all the cars, so they might get griefed a bit. You could always jump up on them and gun down you enemies Rambo-style, but that's not good for your life insurance premium.

So the "intended" use is that you not go breaking them all into tiny pieces... but whatever, it's really up to the host.

I'm releasing a version 1.0 parking garage generator and several pre-generated maps.

This is a map which is a giant parking garage. I wrote the generator for the structure; 1337101 made the vehicles.

garage_1.jpg
garage_2.jpg
map

Downloads:
5 VXL files (2.5MB) with pre-generated maps with different densities of cars vs. empty spaces
commandline map generator, includes 27 different vehicles

You should feel free to host these maps.

@1337101, you should chime in on what you want people to be able to do/not do with your vehicles (which are included in the gen_garage.zip) and maps which includes your vehicles (is it ok for people to modify them / repurpose them etc). For me I don't care, people can do anything they want, but since they're your vehicles it's really up to you. Also, if you have any updates to the vehicles let me know and I'll incorporate them in a new release.

(The pre-release version of this map was discussed in this thread.)
