A button that pings the map? Sounds good.

I doubt there will be a mini-map anytime soon, after reading the issues it has from this forum, but if there is, it would be nice to have a ping-option on the map.
I.e. games like DotA or HoN have that. Alt+click on the mini-map and it pings a certain spot. Great for chasing enemies or doing a rendezvous-spot.

No sorry, realise that I didn't really explain it very well...
What I mean is it be attached to a button on the keyboard, although that idea could work as well. The distress signal button could be used in combat however if it were attached to a button, meaning that if the enemy stormed a particular part of the map, your team-mates would have an idea of where they are coming from. This would also encourage trying to get headshots and for players to try to think about where they are shooting because otherwise the other person would just signal and get backup.

:)

I would actually like this a whole lot. It wouldn't be too hard to program in, its simple, and it would add to the gameplay without over complicating things!

I know there are lots of suggestion threads already, but selfishly I wanted my voice to be heard.... or read.

My idea is based on something I saw in a different thread about grids, to allow for easier communication. I assume this is the idea that the map is divided up and given map references so that if you've made a tunnel or a bunker, or if you are being attacked by lots of people, then you can specifically direct people to one place. What I think would be good is a distress signal. On the map, you can send out a signal that notifies your team where you are. It would come up on the map as ripples coming off your circle. So, for instance, if you had dug a tunnel and wanted to let your team know where it was, you say "I've built a tunnel, check your map" in teamchat, then you send out a signal.

It might get griefed a lot by people just repeatedly pressing it, which is why I would suggest that you can only press it several times before you have to wait for an amount of time, stopping trolls messing up the map. I did originally think that you could put a message out on the map as well, to distinguish between people sending out signals, but that would just get raped to hell.

So, what do you think? Any and all criticism welcome.
