With the lack of voice chat, maybe some quick commands tied to you objective marker also?

Maybe 4 commands, Attack here, Defend here, Need backup, Need builders, each tied to a differently coloured marker? In case you didnt notice, i have a boner for coloured markers.

Haha yes, a more simpler grid based system like A1, A2 etc was what I meant. Didn't really read the wikipedia article. I thought you meant cordinates (like x245,y120) then I'd prefer grid system.

That's a good idea tons0phun. In fact, just add a new special block on slot 6.

-Looks like a red cube. (maybe with fancy exclamation mark texture)
-Only visible to your team.
-Indestructible.
-Left click places, right click (anywhere) erases.
-Only one can exist per player, you make a second one, the first gets deleted.
-On the map, it shows up as a little box with your player number on it.

Indeed.

If only there was a way to "mark blocks as objectives (which will appear on the map) as a means to easily rally players."

No not flares but map markers were suggested in another thread. It's like a grid system on the map.

The ability to drop flares as markers on the map? I understand it would get a little confusing if all 16 players dropped their flares at once, so maybe limit them to one per player, colour coded, and lasting 15 seconds or so?

You know what would be the most awesome? Military grid reference system

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_grid_reference_system

Playing earlier today I was holding a tower and asking for aid.

They asked me where I was. Couldn't tell them clearly.

It would have been much easier if when you opened the map it had co-ordinates. What do you think?
