Gameplay > realism, and I think that having a weapon for suppressive fire could add a lot to the fun. That is just my opinion, though.

Mortar, machinegun away and I might agree. :D There wasn't really that much submachine guns in ww1 tho, if it is where this game is based.

In the readme file that comes with the download, Ben expresses his intention to add more guns.

These are my personal thoughts. At any time, players should be able to press a key that changes what weapon they will hold when they next respawn, and doing this while at the base should change the weapon instantly, without respawning.

Rifle - what we have now: medium rate of fire, small clip, high accuracy, medium recoil, lightweight. Has ironsights. Applications: sharpshooting, well-rounded

Submachine gun - high rate of fire, medium clip, pathetic accuracy, low recoil, lightweight. Has ironsights. Applications: suppressive fire, short-range murder maker

Shotgun - slow rate of fire, small clip, inaccurate, huge recoil, lightweight. Tends to be a one-hit kill within about 5 meters if aimed directly at the torso. Applications: Powerful at a range larger than the submachine gun, good for tunnel warfare and fighting inside other enclosed spaces.

Machine gun - high rate of fire, large clip, decent accuracy, huge recoil, very heavy. Having the machine gun out causes the player to move very slowly, even if the player is carrying something else movement is still slower than otherwise. Applications: short- to medium-range defense. Can only be fired while crouching.

Revolver - medium rate of fire, small clip, decent accuracy, little recoil, very lightweight. Players equipped with the revolver move a good deal faster than any other loadout. Applications: Scouting, intel-capping

Mortar - very slow fire, little ammo, inaccurate, recoil irrelevant, heavy. Players with the mortar move a bit slower than those without but faster than those with the machine gun. Applications: the RPG of WW1. Mostly useful for defense against many attackers, or destruction of enemy bases. Can only be fired while crouching.
