Submachine guns and assault rifles would make this game horrible. That other thread where the guy wanted killstreaks and ACOG sights made me cringe.

The game seems somewhere between 1914 and 1939, with the 1918 era being the most prominent.

I'd like to see static mountable water cooled machine gun turrets and barbed wire blocks to go with that.

I'm not sure how versatile the map generator is, but maybe it could be adapted to generate all sorts of different maps?

- Cratered lunar surface
- Mars
- WW2 Normandy like beachhead with fortifications and barbed wire
- WW1 battlefield with trenches and charred no man's land
- Forest
- Desert with dunes
- Ruined city, perhaps with hollow buildings
- Natural underground cave system
- Underwater coral reef or something, even better if it alters gravity so everyone "swims"

Since the graphics are simple you could get away with doing some crazy stuff by simply changing the color palette, and even more by playing with the sky box texture, mapgen parameters, weapon models and player movement rules.

I think of world war 1 or world war 2. The fog, the trenches, the flat ruined environment reminds me of world war 1. However, i would like to see some more advanced weaponry, like machine guns, assault rifles, sub machine guns, mines, barbed wire, rocket launchers, pistols and more.

I'm feeling the WW1 trench vibes, and i think the fog adds to the WW1 atmosphere too. But when I play this, I still think 'nam. Think Apocalypse Now, with the scene where they make it to the bridge. Americans dug in with a massive fortress, being struck at by an unseen enemy in the hills.

The terrain of the environment reminds one of a more lush environment (such as Vietnam or the Philippines), but the trench warfare definitely lends itself to WWI.

Trench warfare works exceedingly well at holding a line, only problem is that in the time one takes to establish a line, so too can the enemy, and then it becomes the magical world of attrition!

But the trenches seem to conjure up WW1 and before. Why do we gravitate towards trench warfare anyhow? I thought it was poor tactics IRL.

Given the rifles are semi-auto, it'd seem like the Phillipines in WWII to me.

I'd like to see a mod to bring this into the future though.
This game would be perfect for some Terminator-styled Robots exterminating Humans scenario, with humans hiding themselves away in deep bunkers and resisting with guerrilla tactics.

So, there seem to have been alot of discussion on /v/ about which historic period this shootah represents most. Im digging the 'nam references most.
