<description><p>Sidearm is not a good idea. It will just makes firefights like with unlimited clips. But I know why you want it: you've get killed cause you can't aim, and waste all bullets to hit shit. Side arm won't improove your accuracy, just cause more SPAM. It just give noobs more luck to hit something, so they won't learn how to have good accuracy and how to save ammo. Trust me, if it won't be a  game of luck, spam should be reduced.</p>
<p>The discussion about that is like this about helicopter hats. Hope sidearm will never be implemeted.

<description><p>For one, there is no reason to carry around a sidearm when all the weapons can engage targets at short and mid range just fine, the only range where a pistol <em>might</em> be useful. Even being able to spam the pistol with 5 shots out withing 1.5 seconds wont make up for it. You only need .5 seconds, 1 for the SMG, to be killed by the rifle or shotgun at such a short range.<br />
I can understand having a pistol for the shotgun, but then again, if you're running around in the open with a shotgun, you're doing something wrong.</p>
<p>Well that's the only situation where a pistol would be handy, when you run out of ammo completely/in your magazine. Of course the running out of ammo completely can be fixed, as was mentioned in the other thread, by looting corpses for weapons and ammunition. There. That problem is fixed.<br />
How about the magazine? Simple. Try to take cover and reload. If no cover is available jump around and move left and right to throw off your enemy's aim until you're done reloading, which is only around 1.5 seconds, the same amount of time needed to pull out a sidearm and begin shooting it.<br />
That puts you in an interesting position. Risk a (1.5 sec) reload for your main, superior weapon, or take out a shitty pistol and start firing away (also ~1.5 secs).<br />
Which is the logical choice here?

<p>That mean youl kill them in 5 shots, even if you have poor aim, Rate of fire will be pretty high, youl put out 5 shots in around 1.3-1.4 seconds.

I still think it's a better idea to be able to pick up ammo and weapons from corpses which can negate situations where you run out of bullets, never forcing you to pull out a weak secondary weapon. Even then, what are your chance's of killing someone with it?<br />
Enemy has shotgun? Your dead.<br />
Enemy has rifle? Your dead.<br />
Enemy has SMG? You're severely injured.</p>
<p>So with corpse looting it'll be more like:<br />
your behind enemy lines, you just grabed the intel, you shoot a guy in the head and....*click* that was your last bullet.<br />
You loot his corpse for ammo, then you run for your life, suddenly an enemy walks right out in front of you, gun in hand. You shoot him and he dies. x_x

all other trates are the same this pistol uses a diffrent kind of 9mm ammo: .357</p>

<description><p>i think that making it a weaker but faster firing rifle would be a good idea, but just in terms of stats. 3-4 headshots seems good, but enough recoil so it is not too easy to kill a lot of people with it. a machine pistol would be cool, but i think only if there are going to be multiples of the same weapon, like a burst assault rifle, then a full auto assault rifle, and maybe some very high damage/high recoil one.( i do not really agree with this idea, but I am just saying if a machine pistol were to be added, then maybe there should be more variety with the other guns)

If the oft-discussed idea of heavy weapons like squad light machine-guns or grenade launchers is implemented, players selecting these to start get a sidearm instead of grenades. Personally I'd go with a choice between a slower-firing but more powerful weapon with a small magazine (preferably <em>not</em> a revolver for a change) versus a lighter, high-capacity weapon that can fire <em>nearly</em> as fast as the player can pull the trigger. (A Colt M1911 or a Browning High Power, perhaps, to fit in with the Second World War-to-early Vietnam aesthetic the game has taken on of late?) <em>Maybe</em> a machine-pistol of some sort would also work, though if we go with that idea it should have even worse muzzle climb than the SMG and absolutely chew through its ammunition.
