lexsym's ServerBot had the ability to kick people for certain words. Dunno if you were playing back in those days, JoJoeStinky.

For server side I bet it is already possible with Pyspades and some creative python scripting.

If not I bet it would be quite a popular mod for someone to make.

I would not mind doing other actions on what happens in chatter.
Like:
* instabans for people using racial slurs.
* Player slaps for saying things that are mean to new players, 3slaps=kick.
* Instant kicks for anyone playing the" [press ESC] for air support!" trick
*Insta bans for certain abusive phrases.
*instant ban for impersonating an admin.

im not against the words alone, or in the right context... but when people are being abusive in any way, I want to see them booted.

I'm actually going to change my stance on this: It's a minor problem, at best.

It's a game about war. You're shooting, killing and destroying things. Words aren't a problem when you factor this in.

Plus, if the sake of the community were hanging on words, it'd have been doomed from the start. It's doing just fine right now.

This would be annoying, you should just be able to /block certain players in-game. Sort of like how you can block trolls in AIM.

A local (client-sided) mute is also a good idea.

Why not just introduce a mute function. That way when someone uses those scary words, people can just turn them off.

That way AoS does not have to decide what is cool, and what is not cool for everyone.
The individual gets to decide, not the @#$%ing moral police.

Every kid these days has access to it and fills it with their immaturity.

This game is slightly different to other major FPS' because it has the sandbox element.
It attracts a younger crowd - and I'm sure that there are parents out there who wouldn't allow their kids to be playing their game if they saw the profanity flying around.
So adding it as an option both client and perhaps even server-side, it might help those people.
On a personal note, I don't enjoy seeing the profanity flying around the game, and would have use for a profanity filter. It wouldn't be difficult to implement either..

In my opinion censoring words like "Fuck" or "Shit" is just stupid. The internet is a mature place so making it "A place for children" is not going to help anything. If you want to blame someone blame the kids who are invading the game and having a freak out when they don't win. They aren't mature enough to handle internet, so don't make the entire internet suffer. Instead just deal with it, don't let them think that they have power over you. And if they get annoying enough just kick them. That is why that feature is there, to get rid of the annoying players who can handle the game.
