Check you this layout:
aos://3941515693

The fortresses have the protect on so you can see what i am talking about.

B4G4 B5 G5

The intel should always be in a place where the player can get to it. In my past maps i put trees and really high towers in those areas and it made it really unfair sometimes.

This is why my forts and stuff never have roofs, that way the intel is usually on the floor were people can get to it.

@MegaDeuce
The only problem with the default map is that green has easier tunneling capabilities, so we should be able to move the intel, so before the game starts we can change teams and move the intel into the fort if we have to.

@PinkDozer, then you could see what the enemy fort looked like, and ruin the surprise ;D

Still have to decide on how long the teams have to build, and what the base-map should be!

One option is generating a good default map, since they're huge, would encourage different style forts for each team, and have interesting terrain to work with.

Why not just have an organised match time, and have a 20 minute no guns and no moving over the half way line agreement.

oh!LOL!

You would think I would have mastered that reading thing by now :p

Sorry imisread what you where saying.

i love the idea of the users making structures. I was thinking of saving some of the stuff on my server that people do when it is empty.

On Shaft, one guy made the stairs look like blood running down them with a alter of sacrifice on the top...
Some dude did a HUGE Brazil flag... I should have gotten screens of this.
Another did a cute little minimal, 2 person church, that doubled as a pillbox.

I steal........ Ummm i mean...Ummmm .... I get ideas all the time from people playing on my server all teh time!

I think the user-made map would be an awesome idea...
If enough people contributed buildings and props while playing , someone could make a prefab-pack... and rapidly produce a new fortress map, nearly every day so the competition never gets old, and no exploits get over used :)

Thanks JoJoeStinky!

Uhhhhhhh so I guess one way this could work is you'd have two teams of builders, and a pre-determined map, and you'd have two private build servers running at the same time.

When both teams are done making EpicForts, somebody collects the .vxl files for each map, slices the forts out and makes a composite map, then this is used to host a battle! Then whoever wins that match has the best fort!

I was thinking something a little different, but having two teams of builders sounds more fun! There's a list of builders in the original post, lemme know if you want blue or green team!

hey,

Here are some heightmaps and colormaps from some of my older maps,
Just set the grid in your image editor to 32x32 or 64x64, and you should be able to copy and paste the tiles to your new color maps and heightmaps.

There is also one in there for my next map, it is just a fortress alone. i am going to chop off the bottom row of blocks in voxed, so i can pop it into slab to make prefabs from it.

Have fun!

So what if two mapmakers each made an epic Fort, then put those forts on either side of a composite map to see which one was a better design? Then one could play on the blue team, one on the green, and the best fort would become obvious through combat.

You could decide on the underlying terrain ahead of time, build to match the terrain, then import each fort as a .kv6 file.

PLUS, eventually you could have fort playoffs, where the winner makes minor adjustments and takes his fort into maps against winning forts from other matches, until the best fort is determined THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE FORT

Anyone else think this would be fun?

Blue Team:

-MegaDeuce
-jefé
-Thunderstorm
-Field Engineer: {TBR} Falcon

Green Team:
