I cannot find any posts relating to this particular problem.

However when I attempt to access a server, even my own.

The only reply I get in return is that the server is either full or misconfigured, or that the map files mismatch.

Does this mean that I'm missing files or data, e.g Minecraft?

There is also the problem of transferring file errors.

I have only ever received the "server connection failed: its either full or misconfigured" message on this computer, I've only had the gray screen on campus computers, and I've never managed to connect to a single game on any computer. Surely someone has some insight into these problems?

Same problems, what I don't get either is that sometimes I can join a server and sometimes I cannot join that same server again. Or after trying a couple of times it suddenly works. Also cannot join my own server.

There could have been an error when receiving the map, but that wouldn't happen consistently.

Most likely it's one of the following:

- The server cannot accept connections, often because the port isn't open

- The server is too far away. Try one that is closer or with a lower ping (I think it is server ping that is listed however, can anyone verify?) I guess this is what causes the "gray ocean" effect, as well

or... - ITS FULL

The last one is the most probable answer. People fill up servers extremely fast. They also disconnect pretty frequently, so usually if you re-try a few times you'll get a spot. If the server says 0 players and it still doesn't work, it's probably because the server wasn't set up right. There's high demand so working servers rarely have 0 players.

I fixed this error by taking down my firewall (error with antivirus) reinstalled antivirus and works every time now :)
