  • Significant FPS decrease in v0.47
  • 12

I've played the game since v0.32 and it always ran flawlessly.

Yesterday i updated to v0.47 and get into games successfully, but the game is slower with lower fps. Fpses drop more when turning and moving.
I met many more people in the game with the same problem. I thought it might be the motion "blur" but it was made to increase fps. I have win7 and tried running it in administrator and compactibility mode yet still....

Im having the same problem, ben is acting like jagex, ruining a perfectly fine game, even though runescape was ruined when they introduced skilling in where it takes FOR-FUCKING-EVER to get 99 unless u wanna buy like 10 years of members.

I have not encountered any sort of FPS decrease whatsoever.

Agreed, I have a more powerful PC than most of you, yet I notice a huge drop in FPS in 0.45-0.47.

I feel like most of you are just kids who don't know the difference. When Ben added vsync (awful input delay, I confirmed it.) nobody complained. I'm not surprised to see people not notice the FPS drop and blur introduced.

I think two things are changed on the screen that can be related to FPS drops: mini map and higher res tools and weapon models. I don't think mini map does matter too much, I think it's more likely the higher res tools because they are continuosly animated at the top left corner. I think the animation is not really necessary for the game or at least it would be enough if the tools would be showed only when you change tools.

I really can't notice any difference. Of course, I'm running with 2600k OCed to 4.8 GHz and I have two 470s but whatever.

    AMD Phenom II X6 1090T

    ATI Radeon HD 5800

    25 FPS stable. Framerate limited?
Screen looks like http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/7830/screenigp.png when moving the mouse at a mid-speed.

To find your FPS, get fraps @ http://www.fraps.com/
Run it, run AoS, FPS in upper left corner.

I too get 25 fps which, for me, is too low.

I swear to god, if anyone thinks 25 FPS is not low...
Going to need more people posting their FPS, does anyone have above 25?
What's the difference between those who do and don't?

I've got a netbook that barely plays MineCraft, I've gotten only slightly more fps drops.

I've said it before and I will say it again. Not only am I having FPS drops, but it is EXTREMELY awkward modeling with how he has it right now. SO awkward, I was on the verge of releasing an AR15 skin pack, with MULTIPLE variations, and custom sights to match every version.

The EoTech XPS in game, ignore the wrong shade on the Eotech

Iron's for the iron sight variation. Ignore the red thing.

Only reason I waited for the .45 update was so I could actually use the sights I made.

I noticed an FPS drop, but it's still plenty.
I don't think it's a huge issue but it throws his claim of AoS running on grandma's computer into doubt.

@Sub_Human, fuck off or post your FPS, with a post like that we can all tell you're some sort of sub.. never mind.

    @Loaf
This is either a bug or a retarded decision on Ben's part. I believe it's a huge issue. FPS wasn't capped at 25 in versions 3.x.

I was able to regain pre-0.45 FPS by forcing off Vsync (NCP/CCC). May (and probably will) not work for you based on your card/monitor.

Have you confirmed this with Fraps?
Vsync is forced off when the game is in Windowed mode, I get the same FPS with a windowed mode hack.

For me, since the update, AoS has gotten jerky and unresponsive to the degree that won't be able to play it anymore until this is resolved.

Another thing related to this: Even when going back to my old res of 1280, the gfx have become extremely blurry when turning. By this I'm not referring to the "bubble" effect. Anyone else get this? It's like the blocks become clearly delineated stripes when turning the camera, it's extremely disorienting. Another reason for not being able to play like this..

Yes, somebody said it was a feature of the engine to draw less when turning, causing that effect. I think he bumped it up because of crashes while turning fast? I really don't like it either, I think the game should become more customizable and not force certain effects.

If nobody has higher than 25fps, Demondrago21 and Shadows confirmed for annoying and not knowing what low FPS looks like..

Drury, you have to think about words before you type them.
Call of Duty, even on consoles has little to no motion blur and very good FPS.

For some reason I wasn't able to reproduce the crappy FPS I had with Vsync on, but I do know that the FPS is capped at 25 (not a good framerate, but still playable).

@bobbyc does not mean you haven't got it.

Do a FRAPS test on FPS and then tell us.

I did run FRAPS test on my shit computer and can confirm that game is capped to 25 FPS, it doesn't really go any lower. It means that AOS doesn't need better hardware to run the recent version. The developer has just set a stupid frame-rate limit.
