    One of the biggest complaints I get about AoS is the spacebar spamming that goes on just to get around the terrain. So I've implemented an autoclimb feature that'll climb 1-block steps without having to jump.

    So far I'm debating whether to allow it in run mode or walk/ironsights mode only. What do you guys think?

    Run mode would be best i believe. Having it so you can only do it while aiming down kinda defeats the purpose yeah?

    Should not I say.

    I know when I look down a scope I can't see my feet unless if I look though the other end of the scope then my feet are far away.

    I was thinking about ways that this could be fixed, but this obvious answer somehow eluded me. Good work and thanks.

    I think it should work while running, but could slow you down to walking automatically, or something. If that doesn't work out, then running would be swell.

    How about autoclimb is functional for running/walking/aiming, EXCEPT when running it will slow you down to walking speed when you begin to climb something.

    and of course you will still move slowly while aiming

    also how about making it so when you crouch you cant fall off the edge of a block? they have this feature in minecraft (I know, dont talk about minecraft) and is really great! it would make building things (especially bridges) SOOOO much easier/faster

    Or you could implement where the user could climb if they held down space. it eliminates constant button smashing and would allow the user to stay on the current block level if they wanted too.

    i would like run mode + climb and aiming down sights but walking and crouching should be jump to climb

    I hate that they made it so holding down space does nothing. It was better when you jump automatically.

    I honestly like the original jumping system as it is. Could you make this a toggleable feature in the config.ini settings?

    It should be for run mode and walk mode. Not for ironsight mode. You wouldn't be concentrating on climbing when you're try to align a percision shot.

    Make it so you jump automatically when you hold the spacebar down, like it was before.

    Manual jumping is as quick, or quicker than walking and having yourself automatically go up blocks. This may not be the case for mountains, but it is when you're just trying to get up a block.

    I don't mind having to jump constantly while running- it makes for more frantic duels, and really adds to the concentration and tension when rushing back to base with the Intel. I think it suits the look of the characters, too.

    When I'm walking though, it's because I don't want to be heard. There's a big limit to how quiet I can be though because on the open terrain I can't move far without having to jump, which makes a noise no matter what. I'd say either implement it for walking only, or change the jump sound so that it only makes a noise if you're jump-running, or land on a block 2 or more blocks beneath you.

    Basically so that you can be stealthy even when having to jump up or down by a single block level.

    EDIT: also, with all jumping currently manual, the aiming is always exactly where we expect it to be. It would be a nightmare trying to aim while moving around fast if it meant the aim kept on bumping up or down a fraction just because your body went up or down a bit.

    I don't know if this is really needed, but really, I can't tell what this feature is going to be like, yet. I think one big point of games using voxels is having to jump when there is a block in front of you, or go around it

    I glitch sometimes so i get stuck on something like this.

    I agree with Izzy on the toggle key. It would be great to be able to get to the front lines faster, but it would be really hard to aim if you strafe around and then move up a block accidentally. If there is some way to toggle it, I think this is an awesome feature.

    Also, jumping is fine the way it is.

    Toggle key with a cooldown system.

    Or, taking this to an exaggerated level, make it spawn as a powerup to decrease rapid frontline movement.

    Pull-Ups would be cool though. Ability to climb 2-3 blocks height when holding spacebar.

    So hold down jump to auto-climb up a hill/mountain is consensus? (i.e. press+hold space + move to walk up hills, not continually jump over and over)

    Sounds good to me. Major pain in the arse to have to continually spam around climbing mountains.

    Would this also get us out of water?

    I actually the jumping is part of the challenge, with practice, jumping in a diagonal fashion, I've managed to jump over 10 blocks in a row without miss.
    Like all games, with practice, you even forget you had an issue.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Hm...I would go for "only while running". Why?
    Because I can think of situations like when you are for example in some small hideout up the hill and move around - you don't really want to accidently climb up one block and expose yourself, you just want to sneak left and right to peek out of your covert to snipe the enemy.
    So "walking", "crouching" and "ironsights-mode" should disable auto-climbing.

    Pls don't implement this! It would completely take the thrill out of it. I know it can be frustrating when you build something high up on a bridge and then fall down and die. But that's how gravity works. Just be careful and use crouching and walking while moving. Simplifying some things inside the game can make it easier for newcomers to get into the game but it could also make the game become stale for advanced players faster.

    but practice is hard, man.

    this is 2011, gamers want easy. the more a game does for them the greater its lure.

    i'm hopeful this game will prove me wrong, though!
