Everything that was against the rules (even some things that imho weren't) got deleted by the admins, anyways.

Just updated the guidelines with a few basic revisions such as consolidating posting guidelines where possible, clarifying a few guidelines, adding a disclaimer regarding "loopholes", blankposting, tags, and a few more.

StackOverflow, could you include a link to the Imageboard in the first post, under the links with the wiki and IRC? I think it might help us get more traffic.

Along with a short explanation as to what it's supposed to be used for: Posting pictures of mods, AOS related things, off-topic images, etc. That would be great. Thank you!

..Really? Just take a look at it as a whole - I would not advocate the official use of it.
It has had 1 screenshot of the game, 1 little drawing made in paint of the game, and so far 64 other rubbish images.. that's ~3% of actual proper use.. :/

It doesn't have the traffic yet, that's why. It's an imageboard, it can be used to speed up distribution of mods (especially scopes, which can be viewed instantly and downloaded directly from the site).

Also, the sections aren't properly finished yet. There is /aos/, for everything related to AoS, including mods. /d/ is for off-topic doodling, /b/ is for trolling and garbage posts. The index page is going to disappear and be replaced with a news bulletin and links to the sections themselves, so the site will be much cleaner.

Just trust me (and Lexsym, as it's her work) on this. It'll be very good once we get all the sections (there won't be just the 3 I described) up and running, and everything organized.

Another rule that can be incorporated is the prohibiting of back-seat Moderating on these forums by non-Moderators. Moderating fellow users of the forums should only be done by the board of appointed Moderators, not by average Members - which can potentially lead to spam or unnecessary posts. This rule will keep threads tidy and give Moderators more leverage within reason.

Directing and informing users that they should use the search function instead of making new threads is perfectly fine.

Nobody reads forum guidelines before making posts, however. Which is sad.

I just had an idea to pseudo-report tag spam without making any kind of post reporting it.

Just put the tag "spam tags" (without quotes) in the tags of the thread with the tag spam. It would make it easy for the moderators to find and delete the tags of the thread with the spam tags.

@Kaede-chan, that could easily be abused. We are already looking into a reporting system among other things to help improve the usability of the forums. Thanks for the idea though.

What we really need is for the official search to be powered by google. It isn't a very good search engine, how it is now. I know StackOverflow wrote one, but it's not really the official search, and therefore, isn't used by anybody. I can't even remember where he posted it.

many of the default (current) search function's results aren't relevant to the search terms so i can't really blame people for duplicating topics. when i'm looking for something specific, such as a map, i often find it easier to go through the appropriate category page by page using my browser's 'Find' text feature. there's a much better Google-powered search plugin that i'm hoping we will get soon.

Isn't that a forum software issue though?

Forum software likes 'tags', and as we all know, tags are rarely used for the appropriate purpose.. as izzy said, we're pushing to get some plug-ins for this place which should improve both user experience and moderation/admin control.
