Every so often, I do some recording and whatnot to either coming up with new licks and such, or to coversongs I already know to see where I'm at in my playing. In this case, I used two different methods; direct input (straight from my equipment), and using a microphone positioned in front of my amp. Just thought I'd share the results I got using each method. I played the bass on both of these. Both in 1 take :D) The first is a song called Powerslave. I used direct input here. There were master tracks available, so I cut the vocals which also cut some rhythm parts as well. http://www.4shared.com/audio/LGxWBOn9/New.html This one's called The Duelists. No master tracks here, so I had to cut the bass a bit. Used an external mic here. http://www.4shared.com/audio/nF-aBYbD/New2.html Feel free to post your ideas, comments and whatnot here if you like! |

Interesting... did you make these from scratch? |

Oh no. The songs themselves aren't mine. The first one had seperate tracks for drums, guitars, etc.,, So I just layed my bass track over the guitar and drums tracks. The second one, I just removed the bass manually and added my track in. |

I'm liking that tone, what kind of equipment do you use? |

I record them with my mind and use my technopathic ability to upload them to the internet. |

It's just a simple line in leading to my computer from my Line6 Spider IV amp. Playing on an Ibanez RG2EX1. |

I'd love to have a Line 6... if I didn't suck so hard at guitar lol |

lol eww Spiders amps are the ones Guitar Center staff get payed extra for if they sell to you successfully D: But to each his own. I prefer vintage amps myself. I don't own one but I prefer their sound. I have a modest F-150 Fender which unfortunately is on the verge of breaking. Clean tone has some obvious buzzing noises and it's starting to become apparent with fuzz on too. That means the diaphragm is tearing or disconnecting somewhere and I need a new amp. I wish I had a direct input cord for my amp-laptop though too. That would help my recording process/sound tenfold. I'm not sure what to spend my money on. |

@Sasquatch, I'm not a big fan of the Line 6 for the same reasons as you, but I got it for cheap (at Guitar Center ironically, they give me discounts all the time since I'm there like every week). It's not a bad amp for the price and while I never really use the presets, they are a nice feature. The only effect I really use is my Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi distortion pedal. |

Lol did I type F-150? XD That's a truck. I meant FM15. I only have a combo amp and a Boss HM2 pre-amp. The pre-amp is obviously excellent for heavy music when everything is kicked to 11 but on lower settings is makes a nice bluesy Sabbath sounding fuzz. I don't use it all the time though, the combo amp has a sharper fuzzbox in it. If I bought a cabinet I could extract the pre-amp from my combo and make a pedal out of it perhaps... |
