It's been a while since I've done a full scale mod.

Well, here it is, a mod based on the greatest PC game of all time, Cave Story. It features a player skin, weapon models, and a lot of sounds pulled right from the original game.

As you can see, the player model is the famous Quote. The semi model is just a Cave Story-themed rifle I whipped up because I couldn't find a weapon in the game to match (note, the one included in the download is just slightly different from the one in the pictures). The SMG is Curly's machinegun. The grenade, I'll admit it's a little sloppy, is modeled after the fireball projectile.

Very nice! But no Polar Star? :C

I know, shame I couldn't get that in there, but the polar star is a small gun, and the SMG, which is the closest to the polar star's size, is automatic. If there were a pistol, it would be a perfect polar star.

One thing I notice about the mod is that it's a little hard to hear yourself being hit sometimes, which can cause you to lose track of your health, just like in the original game. I think I'll make that sound a bit louder

maybe you should have made the rifle be the polar star, but things like this are a little bit difficult. the end result looks alright, I do not really think the character model works with the design, but it is alright. nice work on it

I thought about using the polar star for the rifle, but shooting that far with a pistol? Especially one that doesn't have a very long range at all in the original CS.

As for the character model, it would look better if I could apply the true original colors, but the appearance needs to differ by team. Would it be an improvement to revert the skin tone back so it looks more like the default, but with just a small twist?

the polar star would work i guess, never played cave story. the player in AoS holds the rifle like he is holding a pistol so a pistol would be fine.

Doodrgn, how do you make the iron sights? They're really good.

Those, I just recolored in Photoshop. It was easy with the semi rifle, the brown hue was replaced with blue. The SMG was a little more difficult, and it doesn't look as good as the semi one, because the whole thing is gray and for that reason it's a bit hard to change hues.

Alright, in addition to a bump, I've made a few new models!

First up, I've replaced the team.kv6 (the rotating hats in team selection) with critters (these bastards: http://bit.ly/lhEphl ).

Also, the command post, or tent, has been replaced with the server (the heart box thing that gives life and missiles). It's a bit big, but I wanted the heart to be a 1:1 replica of the one from Cave Story.

Then again, my female model does look a bit like a robot.
