the standard gen, pinpoint, hallway, island, normandy, stalingrad, yet another giant fcking bridge . . . really? i cant win this argument, but please, stop hosting these maps, theyre deadly boring and played out. the renaissance one and circle maze are novel, but why is no one hosting this one? http://ace-spades.com/forums/topic.php?id=3070 i just wanted to find out if im the only one groaning about the above maps. |

I don't even play the game anymore because that's all people host. That combined with continued griefing, server-side hit detection, and the SMG, it's barely worth looking at the server page anymore. |

because they like them. I don't know. But that map looks boss. |

You're not the only one. |

Normandy is decent, but it's getting old. Stalingrad, however.... LOL spawned on the roof again! /suicide |

I'd host maps like that, but i've run into a server problem where after 4 people join, the ping spikes and everyone except for me is kicked. |

that epic landscape Minecraft convert map looks cool but its playability is bad for Ace of Spades, too many cliffs i'm not a fan of Minecraft convert maps at all, i'd much rather play originals designed specifically for Ace of Spades but i'll happily host any maps that are in demand |

stalingrad -- giant open spaces with a few very large boxes. ok the first two times.. normandy -- it was fun, weeks ago, but its also just very long distance shots and then a little cqc. just played out. |

@izzy i guess i enjoy maps where you have to do a little modification to make some covert paths and stairs, which becomes part of the overall tactic. 'os shyt they just found our tunnel' becomes 'oh shyt they just found our secret pathways.' i think it *could* encourage more dynamic tactics like stalking, ambushes, some basic construction to make it navigable/defensible. cat/mouse > storm of steel |

Well it's either you play those crappy maps (even though I like the standard maps and Normandie) or you don't play at all. |

I've been hosting the Renaissance one for a bit and only like 2 people have joined... lol |

All the "crappy" maps are hosted and played because they are dynamic gaming structures, resulting in high replay value for each. This is most likely noted by those who host, and thus are hosted. Conversely, you have the players populating these "crappy" maps for the same reasons aforementioned. |

@DarkMassiah Yea I actually played for a minute. ironically I'm complaining when I'm about to be much busier IRL and wont be spending time with things like this game... @Bound I know, a lot of people like them, but I'd bet its also a lot of people trying trying the game and being disappointed. Complaining about this is like complaining about what makes it to the front page of reddit. |

Standard gen maps aren't, as you say, "crappy," they just get more fun as they get developed and built up. Sadly, admins usually don't monitor their servers well enough to allow a map to develop with legitimate buildings rather than vulgar pictures and major griefing. Even a fresh genmap can be pretty fun, though. I like the landscape a lot, the combat's very dynamic and the hills can provide for a huge variety of combat ranges. Someone may pop up over a hill right in your face, or pop up over the next hill and start a marksmanship competition. I also think the hills look purty. |

I have yet to hear anyone who hosts the maps actually weigh in on this. Have they found that pinpoint and faceoff actually get more players than other maps? Is it the preference of most players out there, or is just those admins' personal preference? It wouldn't surprise me if it's what the players want, it's just we're kind of assuming that without actually knowing. |
