What do you guys think about a way to detect enemy "seismic activity"? Basically I guess the map would just show waves where enemies are digging or throwing grenades. I suppose either some placeable seismometer with a range could be used to detect this or it could just be detected anywhere. I know it could change the gameplay, but personally I prefer surface games over tunnel games, which feel very unpredictable to me. In reality I know it wouldn't stop huge tunnels from being made, but at least with this feature you could tell when the enemy breaks through some blockade you made over the tunnel. Another cool side effect of this is knowing when the enemy is attacking your structures. |

Actually, they had techniques for finding enemy tunnels. One method was to put one end of a stick in the ground, and the other end on your teeth to feel vibrations. Another method was to sink a water-filled oil drum into the floor of the trench, and lower your ear into the water to listen to noise being made by people tunneling. |

Would be cool to have diffident camos for each team, They would still be Green and Blue. |

Think about the possibilities man. Wouldn't you love to know when your base is being attacked, or when the entire floor beneath your intel is being hollowed out? You can already hear pick and spade sounds so you know an enemy is digging in your general location. It's just hard to pinpoint it. |

I dunno...It would be hard to just put in oil barrels and listen to people tunneling. |

I definitely support some form of (primitive) seismology. There needs to be a way to detect enemy tunnelers. Right now, the only way is by sound (listening and checking whatever is in that direction). |

Literally using digging sounds to find tunnelers is hard to do, and pretty impracticable considering how fast they can dig and make you lose your bearings. It needs to be easier to find tunnelers since as of right now they have no challenge besides the time it takes for them to dig from one side of the map to the other. I've never had someone stop me while I'm tunneling so it feels like I'm cheating. That's why we need a visual of where people are digging. |

Instead of having some fancy listening device, there could just be a very faint noise that removing blocks makes, such as the current one except everyone can hear it. It's like hearing a gunshot and trying to find where the person is. |

Well the digging sound is pretty loud already, which actually makes it harder to pinpoint diggers IMO. |

Then they could be made directional, as in it's louder where it's actually coming from. |

Um people, this isn't even WWI, it's the American Evolution. |

I don't know if you forgot there's an "r" at the beginning of "revolution" or if you actually think it's the "American Evolution" |
#2782 TyloNary Member Posted 13 years ago |
funny, i didn't know the american revolution had semi-auto G43s. |

LOL c'mon there is no such thing as the "American Evolution". Even if you meant the American Revolution the guns aren't even in the right era. I heard you mention somewhere that Ben was going to make this a WWII themed game in the future and they definitely had seismometers then. Maybe not as accurate as I'm describing, but does the game really have to have total historical accuracy considering you can dig inhumanly fast? Tunnelers must to be dealt with. |
#2811 Chrispin Member Posted 13 years ago |
...but yeah the sounds in this game just don't seem very "directional" at the moment. When I turn my view or move around the volume of the sounds barely change if they do at all. |
