Feel free to host this or modify it or etc. This is my first map in the hallway/pinpoint sort of spirit. The map is a big low ellipse from one spawn to the other. The spawns are surrounded by water to try to get the intel/camp to spawn in the ellipse. In the middle the ellipse is surrounded by giant walls. But the middle is also filled with junk instead of just being wide open. I call this middle stretch the "Failway". failway_2.jpg -- the green spawn The idea is that there's something for everyone; you can charge into the Failway and shoot it out; you can try to snipe the Failway from the walls; you can try to make intel runs since you can tunnel into the edges of the spawn from the water; you can grief the crap in the Failway. For people who want to host or modify it but want it a bit different, the map generator accepts commandline arguments so you can change how the Failway looks. You can control the number of pillars generated, the number of "jungle gym" connectors between the pillars, and the overall bumpiness of the ground. For example, here's a screenshot with the generator set to 100 pillars, no connectors, and maximum bumpiness. Also, I should mention that the crap in the Failway is pretty bad for the rendering engine; it can slow down the engine a bit (it's pretty close to the worst case for the engine). Looks pretty good. As suicidal as it would be, I can imagine myself trying to tightrope up in the failway for as long as possible. |
