Frankly, I think Homophobia is the wrong term. I'm a Christian and I can't say I'm scared of gays so much as I have a strong dislike/distaste for the whole thing.

I actually don't really care what people do in their own private lives as long as they keep it to themselves. It's not as if I feel the need to proclaim to the world that I'm here and I'm straight. As I said before, I'm a Christian, but I don't feel like I should be FORCING people to accept my beliefs if they don't want to. If they won't convert voluntarily, they'll never truly follow my faith no matter how hard I try, so it's a waste of effort.

I can't stand the people who claim to be a christian and only display hatred to people on topics like homosexuality. Part of them are conveying the wrong message, and part of them actually believe they need to spread hatred and commit worse things to spread their thoughts.

Honestly, yes, I do think it's because there are more Christians. It's not just Christians though, but they are the bigger group involved.

I support anybody's decision to live their life the way they want to.

I hate the ones that are always in your face saying "I'm gay so deal with it". Screw those people. It's also for the reasons I listed that I hate California.

Well, America was founded Cristian, but we also founded America to help out other religious groups. Sadly, people in America either want a dominate religion, or make this place atheist. Both is against what we founded this country for.

Kids these days are getting gayer, skinny jeans and male make up are made to look normal now. There are just as many gays in America look at citys like san francisco and D.C. This thread is so hypocritical in Some Muslim areas in UK they kill gay people.

@MrHappy: Then again, look at cities like Houston, Jacksonville, or Atlanta. Anywhere in Califronia is a bad idea to judge the rest of the country from... it seems almost as if Americans exile left-wing radicals to California where they're forced to suffer expensive water, earthquakes, and putting up with other left-wing radicals (left-wing radicals are, by the way, the demographic group responsible for the most terrorist incidents in the US... Islam doesn't even come close)(no offense intended to those of you who live in California... most of you are actually sane, but it's the ones that aren't that are easier to notice). DC's also a bad choice, since it's actually a pretty trashy city compared to a lot of other US cities I've been to. I'd rather be back somwhere like Garmisch-Partenkirchen...

D.C is not Trashy, its the capital city lol and Garmisch-Partenkirchen is in Bavaria, good place for skiing in winter.

Oh, it has nice parts, but then it has a ghetto which you want to stay the heck away from, particularly if you're pale-skinned.

Yes, Garmisch-Partenkirchen is in Bayern, and it's a nice place to ski. I already knew both of those things, that's part of why I like it. The other parts involve the local cuisine and scenery.
Although the smaller towns in that area are also pretty nice, if not nicer in some cases. You could die of dairy-fat induced heart disease in Ettal.

Why is there so much homophobia? A large-scale presence of certain religions which traditionally preach intolerance toward homosexuals (most of the more traditionalist or fundamentalist branches of Christianity), and a widespread loathing of people who don't conform to societal norms.

Pretty simple.
