It's a religious symbol, specifically the Christian Cross that symbolizes Christianity. A religion of evil, intolerance and violence.

Before you denounce me as an insane lunatic, hear me out. Let's analyze the Holy Bible.
While nowadays we liberal clergy (well at least more liberal than before) who preach of love, they ignore most Christian teachings and History. Like how the Bible encourages slavery and putting homosexuals to death.
Don't believe me about the slavery? You obviously haven't read your Bible very well.
In Leviticus (25:44-46), god says its completely okay to enslave foreigners and women. In Exodus (21:2-6), god again describes how to treat said slave.

"If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before god. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever."
Notice how the owner can keep the Hebrew as his slave by holding his family hostage. Talk about some good, quality family values.

"Bah, that's Old Testament stuff, it doesn't apply anymore." I hear you say, well don't worry. There are also good quality examples in the New Testament.

"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5)"
Basically slaves must obey their masters as they obey Christ.
Jesus even approves of beating slaves, even if they do nothing wrong, see Luke (12:47-48).

Here are some great bible passages that describe how a woman is to be treated and how they are to not have any rights:

Corinthians 14:34-36
Colossians 3:18
Timothy 2:11-15
Peter 3:1

"If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you ... Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die." -Deuteronomy (13:6-10)
Talk about harsh punishment.
Come to think about it, there are a lot of passages that describe how non-Christians are evil sinners.
"For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." -John 7
Note how he calls them the antichrist.

Or in Deuteronomy (21:18-21) where the Bible describes what to do when you have a rebellious son; stone him to death.
Here's the full text "If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them and they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear."
Once again showing how the Bible encourages and justifies violence

Hell, the Bible even openly declares that god is a man of war, (Exodus 15:3) and encourages violence. Observe how god instructs Moses to mercilessly kill the surviving men and women who have slept with men, Numbers 31:1-18.

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:34
Jesus Christ openly declaring he didn't come for peace.

There are literally thousands of verses and passages that encourage violence and death. Head over to the Skeptics Annotated Bible to see more if this wasn't enough for you. Now don't get me wrong, there is some good stuff in the Bible here and there (thou shalt not kill, obey thy parents, etc.) but it's greatly outnumbered by the bad stuff. No joke.

Anyway, that's enough of the Bible. Let's look at our basic Christian history. Look at this lovely timeline of Jewish persecution at the hands of the Christian followers. Looks like it wasn't just the National Socialists that killed Jews, huh?

About an hour I think, but that was on C-C-ComradeFSM's build-only, using PySpade's godmode feature. Plus I had some help.

@Jazz: Eh, sniping from something like that would really annoy the heck out of some enemies, but wouldn't that seem slightly sacreligious?

Besides, it's actually not all that structurally sound... the entire structure (60 blocks tall [on top of four blocks of ground], 40 blocks wide, and 10 blocks deep) is supported by a 10 by 10 base, so it's pretty good griefer bait. It never would have been possible without the "togglebuild" feature and all the other PySpades admin controls, so from a strategic standpoint I must admit it's not all that great.

@Thunderstorm: I seriously 'tl;dr'ed that long rant... I don't see the point in getting so worked up over someone else building a religious symbol as common as a cross. I won't stop you from making a huge height-limit sign that says "Reason" in large capital letters (I might even help, if I'm bored... ).

That's a twisted view on the christian faith..
Your examples are undoubtedly the most violent excerpts you'll find in the bible, from historical accounts dating ~2000 years back. Reading round those commands, the nation was rife with all kinds of 'sin', so such drastic commands could be justifiable if you believed in a higher being exercising justice on a wider scale.
Also bear in mind that culturally, slavery was a common practise, and was not considered wrong until our culture changed and phased it out (which is fairly recently).

Anyhow, I am not here for a debate/take sides about religious practises - your post came at the subject with great vigour and provocation, and was an interesting read - but some might not take it this way, so I'd advise we end the discussion about it here.

More seriously on this topic, thunderstorm is completely right. When I see anything that evolves commonly known religions, I'm either going to spit on it, or take it down ( such as griefing it) You have no right to build those because you have no knowledge of what it means.

As I said before, there are HUNDREDS of quotes in the bible promoting violence and intolerance. I did fail to mention some like when 'god' sends a bear to kill 42 children after they insulted whats-his-face, 2 Kings 2:23-24 I believe.
For a god that Christianity and the Bible describe as loving, benevolent and merciful, that's a pretty cruel action to take.
That still doesn't take away from the fact that the Holy Bible promotes violence and intolerance. As I said again, there are plenty of other violent quotes in the bible. End of story.

It's approximately 65 x 130 (I don't know the precise numbers) and includes one tower that goes all the way to the height limit. The map is on C-C-ComradeFSM's server when it's up. Stop complaining about me, If you would read a book or take a look at history, you would see how many complaints and non too agressive rebelions happened due to the space programs, most of that is coming to and end and I highly doubt much of it would prepare to start up, And I only pointed out those three because they are the problems.
