Hello, this is in response to the kill cam. Instead of straight up giving the position away of the killer with a kill cam why not have a damage indicator during gameplay that tells you where your being hit from? I think it will be easier to make then a kill cam dont you think? Anyway just give me your feeback :) |

the reason they dont put that in is because they dont want another call of duty |
#49174 PS ELMOZ GEMZ Member Posted 13 years ago |
Yeah thats exactly what i was thinking when i posted it hah. Well im just getting ideas out there :) |
#49216 SpartanGamer94 Member Posted 13 years ago |
Kill cam tells you exactly where they are. Indicators just give you a general idea. Plenty of First Person Shooters do i, not just CoD. If anything it's a good idea for pesky snipers who just camp and spawn kill. |

@jjthejetplane27 Call of duty has guns in it. Should we get rid of the guns in AoS? |
#49228 outwrangle Member Posted 13 years ago |
Yeah, and im one of those snipers TYVM! >:) |

How about knockback? If you get shot you are pushed back a little depending on where you got hit. You know where its coming from, and the sniper moves you farther away. win-win |

sooo...minecraft? lol |

How about you open your eyes and look around. |
#49241 SIMOX Modifier Posted 13 years ago |
If the sniper is any decent, then s/he will be at least somewhat hidden from prying eyes. If the first shot doesn't kill, you'll be spinning around like an idiot trying to see who shot you. Chances are you'll be dead before you do. |

Hmm.. a health bar. |

call me an old-fashioned pessimist but i don't like hit indicators, probably because the most fun gameplay i've experienced was in games that didn't have any of the automatic assists seen so commonly in modern mainstream games. "back in the day" you had to be strategic to learn the whereabouts of enemies, a huge part of the gameplay that has since been replaced by automatic assists such as HUD hit indicators and kill cams. that convenience is only robbing us of fun! |

COD isn't the only game with damage indicator, almost every single FPS game I can think of uses one... That being said, AOS is NOT almost every single FPS game. |

Why do people like to compare new ideas to CoD? |
#49360 Gregery That Guy Posted 13 years ago |
we cant we just make it so you cant see after you die? i like that idea way more than a kill cam or damage indicator thatd be annoying. |

I'd like to point out that if you get shot in real life the first impression you will have is straightforward pain. You'll know where you were hit, but you won't know where you were hit from. Not as bad an idea as killcam (if you're dead, you won't feel, see, or hear anything), but still a bad idea. I like the unique gameplay in AoS. |

@outwrangle the reason i love aos so much is its not just another game. it has potential. they squezed the last couple drops of the cod franchise out with black ops. it turned from the shit to a piece of shit. |

Indicators are still a useful feature. Period. |
#49598 Thunderstorm Member Posted 13 years ago |
They aren't useful to you if some ignorant Deuce shoots you because he mystically knows EXACTLY where the bullets came from. General sneakiness is rewarding right now. Please, don't try to get that changed. |
#49657 1337101 Modifier Posted 13 years ago |
But also way to easily abused. I've been spawn killed way too many times trying to figure out where the shot came from so I can counter snipe. |
#49678 Thunderstorm Member Posted 13 years ago |
I had a great idea for this, actually... how about when people get hit they "stagger" a bit away from the hit in reaction to it? Not only is this more realistic, it gives you a vague idea of where the shots came from and the person shooting at you an indication of whether or not he hit you. You do realize that any feature of this sort will take a long time to get into AoS, though, right? Ben's got his hands full with a new gun and some other stuff right now... a man can only code so fast! |
#49730 1337101 Modifier Posted 13 years ago |
I don't find staggers realistic and they seem more of a nuisance than a feature. I can see you walkin across a 1 block wide bridge and then... That's why it can go on the to-do list like the shotgun is, or how the autoclimb and votekick and maps and the SMG was. Doesn't mean he has to code it now at this very instant. |
#49770 Thunderstorm Member Posted 13 years ago |
Actually, getting knocked off of a narrow bridge by a high-velocity sniper round is quite realistic. The amount of stagger could even be changed for the different rounds, so an SMG has little but a rifle has a lot. Besides, it could be coded so that if you die from a stagger-induced fall the sniper DOES get the credit. It shouldn't take more than a few lines of code to determine whether or not the player ended up in open air because of blindness or bullets. Besides, why didn't the shot kill the guy instantly anyways? What's this sniper think he's doing, missing the punk's head?* *possibly intended as humor, use at your own risk. |

No. Cope with the situation. This isn't COD with your aim assist and regeneration health. I guess this game is just to hard core for you. Casual. |

@ 1337: Because the semi was semi-nerfed in the last update :< |
#49821 MegaDeuce This is not a title. Posted 13 years ago |
@MegaDeuce: Only semi-nerfed? Well, I suppose so, since it's still superior to the SMG. Still, it's a ridiculous amount of innacuracy for a rifle. |
#49830 1337101 Modifier Posted 13 years ago |
I hate CoD. I don't want aim assist. I don't want regenerating health. I just want some damn indicators. If I wanted ultra realistic hardcore I'd go play ARMA 2 or something. I just want some damn indicators to know the general direction and not have to resort to tracers to figure out where the shots are coming (which is kinda unrealistic since most soldiers don't use tracer rounds). |
#49839 Thunderstorm Member Posted 13 years ago |
@Thunderstorm: Shame my computer won't run ARMA II worth crap. I was just thinking that a suggestion like mine would fulfill your requirements for getting an idea of where hits were coming from in an original way that wouldn't make AoS look like a lot of other shooters. |
#49847 1337101 Modifier Posted 13 years ago |
@MD: semi-nerfed.... I see what you did there. |
#49849 Kaede-chan (かえでーちゃん) Imageboard Moderator Posted 13 years ago |
Try Operation flashpoint. Still quite realistic. Well I don't see what the problem is with adding features present in other games. They're tried and true and worthy to put in. Guns are a feature pioneered by Wolfenstein 3D. Even with those features AoS looks nothing and feels nothing like other shooters. What other shooters can you add blocks and make building and destroy them? |
