As of writing this thread the sniper has a massive lead of...56 votes. So unless something big happens it seems the snipers going to win. So i got a question for ya ben. how are you going to make the sniper useful? the rifle already one hits, SO HOW DO YOU ONE UP ONE HITTING PEOPLE?....will it one hit with body shots? will it be like the phase rifle and shoot (and see) through walls? will it pierce through people? will the bullets explode for splash damage? Will it be silenced?

Please make me not hate the idea of a sniper.
(yes im aware of the cone on the rifle. but its not wide enough to validate a snipers existence when its already easy enough to headshot people from afar)

The sniper votes were by the same ip though, therefore they shouldn't count. Shotgun will be most likely added.

it doesnt matter if it has fraudulent votes, theyre still votes until ben wipes them.

i think a sniper rifle would be a nice addition, anyway. i think he can just nerf the semi a little bit, but give it some better things, like increased rate of fire, make the sniper bolt action, maybe also so you have to actually click to bolt it, like influx(i think) said in some other thread.

really, i dont think it'd be too much of a problem, i remember when everybody was so against a full auto gun, now people don't really mind. but whom knows, it may be a bad suggestion

actually, i didn't vote for the sniper rifle(i voted melee), i just don't mind getting it as an addition because i think this guy can probably add one and pull it off well

Guys, guys, guys (and gals), slow down here! The sniper rifle votes are because of cheating. DeathEnhanced did some research and found that most of the votes were actually from a single computer somewhere in Miama, Florida, USA. The poll will not mysteriously spawn a gun based on the leading results... Ben will look at the results himself, and if he knows that most of the votes for a certain gun are fraudulent, he'll take that into consideration. Right now, that consideration will lead him to the conclusion that what the community actually wants is a shotgun.

Now, I'm not a big fan of the shotguns myself (I voted for a machine gun), but it's the leader in honest votes. A shotgun is what the community really wants, and I'm hoping that's what it gets.

@Galaxy: I fully agree with the first and third parts of that suggestion. I don't really want any changes to the SMG, but w/e. The old rifle accuracy and a shotgun are what the community seems to want the most, and may it get them. I'm certainly looking forward to sniping again.

Honestly, I don't want a shotgun. It would have just about no purpose in AoS since the SMG already takes care of short-range combat. But since it's pretty apparent that the shotgun is going to win (as long as the overly-illegitimate sniper votes aren't counted), I want to see either the SMG's power increased, its rate of fire lowered, or its recoil lowered in order to turn it into more of a medium to long range automatic weapon.

Of course, all of this is assuming the shotgun is going to be the next weapon to be added.

Keep in mind that just because a weapon has the most votes doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be implemented.

@Galaxy: Yeah, from a personal standpoint I don't like the shotgun, but I'm going proactive for the shotgun now because a lot of other people want it and I don't want them to be conned out of what they've said they honestly want by some skiddie in Miami.

For me, the SMG actually does best at medium ranges. I assume you're familiar with the crouch and burst tactics? For me, if the SMG was any more accurate or lower-recoil, I'd be sniping people all the way to fog.

Technically, I can kill them at fog now, but it takes a bit of ammo and the other guy either having an SMG himself or not figuring out where I am for a bit.

anyways i dont see why we need a shottie OR sniper. id much rather have a pickaxe for silent killing while conserving ammo.

Yeah, there should be some kind of damage noise associated with a hit of any sort. Subbing in the falling damage noise would be the fastest fix.

@Chipou: Yeah, you're right, it'd still be stealthy. Almost nobody would notice it (unless they were the ones getting killed) anyways... there are a lot of ways for people to make that falling-damage noise, and most of them would involved, well, falling.

I must admit, I am curious to see what buckshot tracers would look like in AoS. An option for slug ammunition would also be nice (selectable after choosing the shotgun from the "." menu).

as of now snipers at a 63 point lead. so i seriously hope ben either a)Makes the sniper actually worth using without making the rifle crap or b) clears the illegitimate votes.
