Since no one ever though of the bouncing betty yet, I guess I might as well put it out there. Since you can choose which primary gun you'd like to use, I thought they should have an option like that for grenades. You could choose between the grenade or the bouncing betty. The bouncing betty would be like a landmine. You could put one down on key areas. Like a bridge, near intel, etc. The bouncing betty would have the same damage as a grenade and the same area-of-effect. To trigger a bouncing betty, you have to step an adjacent 5 blocks to the planted bouncing better. 75% of the time it will be lethal, and the 25% they might survive. You get only 2 bouncing betties. They can not be placed 10 blocks adjacent to the intel, they cant be placed 10 blocks adjacent to each other, and they have a tiny antenne sticking out from the ground from which they are placed. This is so you can avoid a bouncing betty, and would make you caution when your walking around the battlefield. Leave a comment and tell me what you think of the bouncing betty ^_^ |

Landmines would be good, but you should have to step right on the same block. Boom. Grenade like explosion instantly. |

A 1x1 block proximity radius would be underpowered, it should be like a 3x3 radius of sensitivity (if landmines were to be implemented at all) Then again, with the current game mode, that would be game-breaking and make capturing the intel pretty goddamn hard. It'd work with other game modes, but not CTF. |

But... The Bouncing Betty Was In Battlefield: Vietnam First... |

@Kaede: That depends on the intended use. I think the intended use should be out in open fields in front of important bunkers, so a 3x3 detection area would be nice... but then that would mean a single mine could cover a three-wide tunnel, even if the enemy was careful enough to stay to the sides of the corridor. Frankly, I'd like a system that prevents their use in tunnels and buildings entirely: require them to be open to the sky, with no blocks above them. That would prevent the CoD "claymore factor." The bouncing betty isn't actually a bad suggestion... sure, it's in CoD, but it also happens to be one of the most infamous landmines from WWII. Claymores and C4 are the devices that have the real nasty reputation from CoD, betties should be safe enough. |

Nothing stopping anybody from spamming them around their own intel. I suppose you could trigger them all to explode by throwing a grenade at em. |

Refer to my thread on my take of the Landmine. |

What the fuck is a "tryhard"? |
#51889 outwrangle Member Posted 13 years ago |
My guess, give the Betty a 3 x 3 radius on flat ground but it can only detect targets 1 to 2 blocks higher/lower than where it was placed. |

@outwrangle someone who trys very hard to be something they're not |

Kaede, Cod was not my inspiration for the bouncing betty. I saw a documentary about WWII and I derived my inspiration from there. So don't just determine that I got it straight from cod. Infact, I haven't even played cod for a month! Besides that, The bouncing betty cant be placed near intel, tents, and it needs a 3x3 space to be planted, so you cant just plant them in tunnels and make it overpowered. |
