    Nay. We'd either be unable to remove the blocks and there would be no water, or we would be able to remove the blocks and there would be only water.

    You wouldn't be able to remove the blocks that are preset on the map. Only blocks that have been placed by players.

    Cool idea, only problem would be confusion between player-placed and natural bedrock.

    DUDE YOU COULD BUILD MOATS!

    If you dig out the bottom ground layer, the one under that turns into water. If you place a block there, it turns to land. Yae!

    It'd be interesting if you could actually dig under the water table with the possibility of your tunnel flooding.

    More immersion (or whatever), that way.

    @MegaDeuce
    suggesting the possibility of being able to break the natural bottom layer of the map?

    With a little refining, this is an absolutely great idea.

    You know, water would be a big thing for this game. Things like flooding a tunnel or drowning, maybe moats too.

    Water isn't much right now, it's just the bottom layer of the map having some different mechanics than other blocks. Dynamic water would be nice.

    Instead of a super-fragile bridge you could build a causeway, and you could widen the river on vanilla maps in strategic areas

    If you really wanted to you could obliterate the center island in Harbor Map :D

    Yes, if this were added, I can see some week-old servers becoming water worlds. But then, players would have the ability to build their own islands.

    I had changed it to not being able to remove preset blocks because of Pvt Ryan's post. The griefer potential is pretty obvious (as it is with anything in this game). While it's not that big of a deal, trying to walk through your base while falling into a mud pit every five feet would be pretty annoying.

    Yay. I wonder how deep we can dig once we dig through the water though? Around 5 blocks deeper than water level at most?

    I say nay, unless there is some kind of measure to prevent excessive tunneling. You know that's what everyone in the server would end up doing to get the advantage. Tunneling underneath the map to the flag would be much easier and more convenient. Perhaps an actual ocean system where a body of water extended completely to the bottom of the map's bottom in the middle to discourage tunneling close to the ocean. That would force land combat.

    Well, I'm starting to get confused.
    All I thought is that I can put blocks above water without the need of a tether.
