"Couldn't get IP address"

This is the only thing that is keeping me from the game, how do I fix this?

I think you'll get that if for some reason you can't reach whatismyip.com or your firewall is blocking the client. Can you make an exception in your firewall for the AoS client?

wait, my ISP doesn't let me go to whatismyip.com lol
EDIT: and it used to work before 0.35
