So I was thinking about how you move in game, and realized two things: A.) Going down hills makes you move extremely slow, which makes you easier to be hit by snipers. B.) You cannot really outrun horizontal SMG fire, because you build up speed to a jog. These are the problems, and they could be fixed by reworking movement. But that is not all I wanted to share, as I also have some suggestions. 1.) If you ever played Deus Ex 1 then you probably know that they made seeing past corners a whole lot easier by allowing the player to lean to the left and right by pressing Q and E. For whatever reason, I feel like this would be a big help to players who use stealth based strategies. 2.) As I said before, you build up running speed to a slow paced run, which makes me really want a sprint ability, but yet this one isn't really too annoying to me, so you could skip this one. 3.) Sometimes I feel as if the maps I've played on are kinda of big to be traveling on foot. So sometimes I feel as if you need vehicles to make it across the map, but again, I don't really complain much about this. |

Hi, pizy. I met you on Sham's. :D But, on topic, sprinting wouldn't really help out a whole lot. I mean, you're already running as a soldier, with the ability to walk. Going down hills seems like it would make you faster rather than slower, as you're running down, gravity helps build up speed. Of course, I really don't think the build-up speed idea would be all that great, because what if you were just trotting along, and all of the sudden you pick up speed, and go careening off of a cliff? (I would do that, and more than once.) Vehicles aren't really useful right now, (at least until the maps get bigger, not sure if that's even possible), because the maps are too small. They would be a nice addition if the maps were large enough to make them neccesary, and if we had an effective way of destroying them besides grenades. And, I kind of like the way you move about on the battlefield. AoS sets itself apart from other games by having unique features. |

sprinting would help out a lot, e.g you are in an open field, *BAMM* you see thr trac er flying by, nerly hiting you, you see a tree and sprint for your life, out runing the sharpshooters aim. < thats how sprinting will help out, |

i think we should be able to change controls! |

^yeah, agree with all |

Outrunning someone's aim? This isn't the matrix you know. erratic running works just as well. Leaning is never really a worthwhile feature in multiplayer games, though I agree it can be invaluable in singleplayer FPS-RPGs. As for your downhill movement problem, try jumping. Simple. |

Until you fall too far, which causes fall damage. In an extended fight, you're gonna need every single point of HP that you can get. |

Ben needs to fix that down-hill-speed issue, it's bothersome. |

If you're on a slope steep enough to get fall damage from, then moving horizontally fast isn't your main concern anyway. |

If you are fighting in a world made of voxels, then doing things isn't your main concern. |
#82908 Bobbunny Teh One Bunneh Posted 13 years ago |
What does that even mean? |
#82970 Beret Commando Posted 13 years ago |
If you realize that your universe is suddenly made up of ones and zeroes, doing things isn't your main concern, it's thinking how the hell you got here. |

Either way, people might be complaining because they don't use cover effectively. |

I just thought...could we implement some subtle Freerunning or Le Parkour elements into this game? (I.e. Like grabbing ledges, vaulting or wall running and such.) |

Look, it's cute and all that you guys wanna add your two cents to everything. But what about when you do add all those things? What do you get? Another CoD? Another Halo? That's not what AoS is. It is not those things. It is different for not having those things. A sprint function would be nice and interesting, but it should be implemented differently. |

Since when was freerunning Halo or CoD? |

Remember, you can craft/ move/ shape the land for your purposes. Get creative! |

1. You'll get bashed for pushing originality upon people. I have, and multiple times. Supposedly, it's always about the "useability" and, in turn, "unoriginality" of it that drives users to it. Almost all modern internet browsers use tabs, searchbars, input boxes, back/forward buttons, history, home, add-ons... yet nobody really notices how unoriginal it gets, because it's all about whether or not the user is familiar. It's pretty fucking dumb, in my opinion, but I guess that's the way it works. |
