you set them, and when the opposing team steps on them they break, like a trap door. also can we somehow set the solidity of the blocks too for map editing? I want to make some unbreakable things in my map. Also for things like cement walls anf floors it would be nice to set the solidity to about 10 times what the blocks are now. Perhaps have so certain solidity values only breakable with the pick. There are a few designs i want to use, but thanks to griefers, i can not. |

Good idea, I support :D |

Cool idea with the traps. Altered solidity would work as long as players can't place them. |

mmm crumbly blocks. |

Although the idea of indestructible blocks has been floating around for a while, I like the idea of a trap block, although I doubt they'd get used all too often. Their only practical at the moment use would be a fall-damage trap - if we could have items that cause damage on contact like punji pits, barbed wire, etc, this could be a whole lot more fun. @HeeleySk8r |

As long as we also get barbed wire blocks, I'm all for a trap door block. If it's one or the other though, then barbed wire blocks would be the go, as they're more versatile. |

Good idea, but the only blocks you should be able to place in game would be the default block and the "trapdoor" block |

Yea! barbed wire, and pungie sticks!! Perhaps trigger blocks, that when set under a ceiling, trip a large portion of the ceiling to fall on who ever steps on the block. i dunno, i thing landmines are unsporting..... there would have to be a way to detect the traps too to make it fair. perhaps an audible sound, or a .KVX blob mesh of a small trigger button. same thing with the trap door blocks, they would have to be detectable somehow to keep things fun. Well ,there would not just be falling damage from the trap door blocks, people can set up little fireing squad rooms to shoot whoever fell in the hole. i am sure other people will find a way to use them too. i cant see griefers using them if they do nothing to their own team. Piston blocks might be cool too, to push the enemy off ledges and to add some Lulz to base defense. Set the trap button on the floor, and the piston block will be the one that the top of the players head is pointing at., have it possible for multiple instances, so people can do 2x2 holes. |

I think it'd have to have a trigger, so you'd actually have to wait for the person to be on it before it goes off, to avoid spamming |

But if you input a trigger and things, it will get confusing. |

maybe you can select the level of blocks like blocks with the level 0 Will crumble under neat your feat(or when you try to mine or shoot it) while blocks with level 1 Will be normal and possible a level 2 block witch is stronger and also deals extra damage when you fall, but with the drawback that you can't change the color. |

Cool ideas :) If this does not make it into the core game, it would still be a cool set of mod plugins :) It might bring more focus on defence too, if you are not just standing around waiting for the enemy... you are going around the base, making traps for Lulz! |

Well, the block colors are stored as 32-bit RGB colors, but there's 8 bits=256 levels of alpha channel that aren't being used. If you had an editor that could vary the .vxl alpha channels, you could use it for -transparency Which is exciting, but would probably be a bitch to code compared to how much it would improve gameplay. |

Anyone up for window's that need 2 rifle shots to break? |
#83550 [MLG]Nowa90 Rifleman/Modder Posted 13 years ago |
windows would be pointless unless u could shoot out of them ^^Hope Someone Makes A Script For That |
#83622 [17th]TorchOF Graphics Designer Posted 13 years ago |
Using the alpha channels like Megadeuce suggested, we could theoretically have 256 different block types. Adjustable health values, transparent blocks, exploding blocks, staircases... sky's the limit. |
