    Rifles in AoS : strong in close range as well in far. Wait, did I just say that the rifle was strong in close and far range ? Yes, I did. What about the other weapons? The SMG is good in close range and is ok in far. The shotgun is exellent in close range and very poor in far range. So, that would mean that the rifle is overpowered, which is most likely the case. So how can we balance? Well, I thought of two ways :
    1. The rifle target, while not aiming, should be less precise than the other guns, making it less accurate in close range, as in the Call of Duty games.
    2. Put no target at all while not aiming, as in the "Battlefield" games.
    Well, I really hope that this post will help in the developement of the game,
    Wolfunov.
    EDIT : There is an other solution, that will satisfy many people, wanting a sniper rifle :
    The rifle damage should be decreasd, while the target is the same as the smg or shotgun while not aiming. The rifle would be good in long range and in short range. Then, the sniper rifle comes in : a new gun, with a not very accurate or inexistant target (as proposed above), not accurate while not aiming, and as deadly in long range, as the actual rifle used in the game right now.

    No :D and you forgot that the smg and the shotgun are very good at destroying enemy builds and the rifle... NOT

    I've been killed at close range by the SMG, shotgun, and rifle multiple times. They just got the drop on me. You can easily kill somebody with an SMG or shotgun (Close range), just take them by surprise.

    Uh.. also, there have been about three other threads about this.

    The rifle is fine as is.

    I don't understand you people.

    Obviously a rifle which can efficiently kill someone from hundreds of meters away is going to kill just as quickly (if not quicker) from point-blank range.

    The rifle's already been ruined once (and it took over a month to fix it, and it still has not been restored to its original capabilities), leave it the fuck alone.

    Wolf, just try to use the element of surprise. It doesn't matter what fucking weapon you use as long as you can surprise them. Hell, i've been killed by shotgunners when I saw them first, but they had better aim than me. The rifle is fine, there's no need to nerf it.

    It's not the weapon that's the problem here, it's the player.

    Whenever I play, all the weapons seem balanced. Usually you only get killed by rifle from far away. SMG has a medium range that chews through blocks and easily beats shotgun and rifle when fighting from mid-range. Shotgun is best used at extremely close range with the element of surprise.

    Yeah, It was stupid of me to say that the rifle is overpowered. But don't you think the smg has problems ?
    The recoil is fine : you just get used to it
    It can brake well : ok, sure
    But... to me, the damages done by the smg seem a bit low. If you think i'm wrong, please explain.

    +1 Reverend suprise is a key factor, I type BOO sometimes.
    And true, it's the user. When I started playing I was shit, Everyone owned me with the rifle. Near the end of 0.52 (I've been playing since 0.50) I got good really good. In game, I get accused of aim botting, thats how much better I've become.

    ^I agree with you about the SMG, it needs a buff. But we can't attain that by nerfing the rifle.

    Im really all for those two suggestion... or at least the second one.

    The rifle feels to much like a unrealistic quake insta-gib ripoff.

    Nah, leave the rifle as it is or make two different guns, sniper rifle and rifle

    Just make the rifle bolt action and that will fix everything.

    Seriously, the whole point about rifles is that they're suppose to be good at long range and poor at short range.

    Haven't you guys ever played a WWII game? There's like a ton of them. And that's what this is, a WWII game combined with minecraft.

    i think i have to agree that all you have to do is take the enemy by surprise, i remember one time i was doing pretty well with the shotgun, by just going around the corners and shooting them, instead of trying to snipe people with it. the only thing that i think would be good is, lowering accuracy while standing up, so it's like the SMG, but that might not work very well. adding another rifle may be good, but a lot of people seem to disagree with that idea

    SMG does 49 damage for a headshot, I believe 16 for a bodyshot, and 6 for a legshot.
    A good SMG Player can kill easily with 1 quick burst. I think it should definitely get a damage buff though.

    really??? That less damage... I mean 49 headshot is ok I guess but only 16 for body and 6 for leg! That should get a buff very soon :D

    I think the weapons are perfectly balanced right now. And the SMG is really good at close/medium range, so I don't think any changes are needed.
