I've always wanted to play with this. Let's say that, hypothetically of course, a train with people inside manages to reach speed of light (or something very, very close to it, if you will). What do you think happens with those people inside? Think of something original, don't say "they explode" and similar. And assume that after it reaches that magical velocity, it continues its trip without slowing down (or speeding up ha, ha) so there is no force felt by everyone in. I guess the first and the most obvious question is: what do they see? Share your thoughts! (be careful though, or you might be the one exploding ;)) |

It is impossible for anything with rest mass to travel at the speed of light. |

the train burst into flames due to friction. steel is not made to survive such brutal speeds everyone dies. i piss on the corpses |

Reminds me of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Suicide Roller coasters anyone? |

A train canoot reach the speed of light beeeecause.... The critical mass of an object when approaching the speed of light changes, its grows heavier and heavier. therefore more power is required to push the object. The harder you push it the heavier it gets. to make 1Kg of mass even get close to the light barrier you would need the total radiation energy emitted by every star in the milky-way galaxy for around 1.7 thousend years. Your talking about pushing a freaking TRAIN, there is no feasible source of energy in our plane of existence (dimension) capable of powering such an object. honestly to get such a huge amount of power in one instant you would have to....lemmi think..... literally rip an hole in time and space and artificial create a hyperblack hole (i shit you not they exist) which is basicly a blackhole the size of a universe... and then SUMHOW capture all the released energy before the blackholes gravitational field strength kicks in and sucks it all up, so a time frame of what? like 1/billionth of a second? |

@rambobond Not about The game. But yeah it would be cool to be fighting on a moving train. Also, you wouldn't be able to see anything, your moving faster then light so it cant catch up. |

if you belive in stephen hawking he emplys that a viechle moving at such speeds will catapult the occupants forward in time! |
#90550 Alucard Member Posted 13 years ago |
although death is not entirley correct it is possible that we may be able to harvest an EXTEMLEY powerfull energy source from a distant planet but then again maybe not |
#90562 Alucard Member Posted 13 years ago |
Geez AoS, why so serious? |
#90599 Papa Khan Warchief Posted 13 years ago |
@rambo So you don't want me in AoS... Thanks... |

Nothing happens to the people inside, but according to special relativity theory everything they see outside the train would be: 1) moving at nearly the speed of light, in the opposite direction I can't explain special relativity to these forums, so you'll just have to believe me when I say that this is what relativity theory predicts ;D |

I guess some people didn't get the joke about AoS trains. :P There's only one thing to be certain: |

A Jet Going at the Speed of Mach 2 would enpress 9Gs of force on the pilot, usual unexperienced people would black out in a matter of seconds. |
