Other than a funny april-fools (or some random other event) joke, this is a pretty naff idea :P I know you are suggesting helicopter hats rather than just hats, but the idea of hats themselves has already been discussed a fair amount.
The other topic was closed since you, and others, brought it completely off-topic.
If it is a decent idea, people will naturally keep it on topic.. and if it becomes so off-topic then it is just easier for the staff just to close it.

Fully customizable (client-side) characters, however the hitboxes would remain the same.

I think a minecraft style would work better in the sense all parameters in a certain area must be filled.

This is so a 1 block floating voxel is not insanely hard to kill.

Helicopter hats that have a function aren't the same as silly useless hats. And therefor should be treated differently.

So we can fly with them?

Yes, those hats let you fly. It's also a way to make the fly hacks available out there obsolete.

i think it would be a pretty cool idea, because you know, everybody is talking about how no games are innovating these days. this would really bring something new and interesting to the table of first person shooters

This would be the best 1st person shooter if this was implemented. It would be Minecraft + guns and helicopter hats. :D
