If you were going to categorize map types how would you do it?

Me, I would have the following cats:

urban,
symmetric,
lowlands,
highlands,
mountains,
cayons,
...

And then I thought to myself if I tried to categorize every natural feature I would have an ungodly long list nickpicking every type of feature known on the face of the earth. So how does this list sound:

urban
organic or natural,
symmetric,
lowlands or flat,
highland or high

Don't forget water maps e.g. oceans,islands, large rivers
